Santa Gnome Treats

Wednesday, December 18, 2024
It's hard to believe that this is the final Little Red Wagon challenge of 2024. Where has the time gone? The wonderful Imke is our hostess this week and she's wishing us all a "Merry Christmas" and is looking to see Christmas projects. From cards to tags, scrapbook pages and treat holders to any other sort of paper craft, we'd love to see what you make for this festive season.

I used a generic Santa Gnome die set to create my little guys, each holding a Lindt chocolate. The die cut is actually meant to hold a lollipop but I cut each gnome twice, attaching the second cut behind the front one. I'm happy with the way they turned out and there will be a gnome at each place setting at our Christmas dinner.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Christmas projects. And, in the tradition of my faith, I wish you a very happy Christmas!

Action Wobble - Camel

Wednesday, December 11, 2024
It's my last time hosting at Little Red Wagon this year. All through 2024, I've used Def Leppard hits to inspire the challenge themes. This time, it's "Action" and I'm challenging all to create something with action, When there is literal action/movement on your creation or you've used a picture/image of something that is known for action (e.g., a vehicle, Santa's sleigh, an animal, etc.), I'd love for you to link up!

My sister's birthday is today and I've made this birthday card for her. I call her "Kami" which is actually a nickname based on "camel". I call her this as I often end up asking her to hold my bags and things when we're out and about so I can snap photos, grab a snack, etc. Then, due to being easily distracted, I move along without taking my things back. Kami then asks if I think she's my camel, carrying all my things. Anyway, I try to give her camel-related cards and gifts and this year is no exception. The paper-pieced camel is on an Action Wobble - a supply that has seen no action in my craft room for ages!

I filmed this short video showing the wobbling camel in action. The music playing is Def Leppard's Action!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the "Action" projects - and then link up one of your own!

NOEL Tags and Shortbread Packages

Wednesday, December 4, 2024
Brenda is hosting our Little Red Wagon Challenge and she's calling out, "Tag! You're It!" Brenda is looking for tags. Whether the tag is the creation or your creation uses a tag in some way, we'd love to see what you've made!

Each year, I spend a day with one of my good friends baking and decorating fancy shortbread cookies. We make dozens and dozens of them! I like to prepare small bags to give as little gifts and created a set of tags to go on this year's bags. I used punches for the tags and the greenery. The tags were embossed with snowflakes and I heat-embossed the NOEL sentiment (from My Craft Spot, no longer in business). Now, I've got a few bags ready to grab when needed. Others get packaged in tins with the rest of my baking or on a large cookie tray for dinners and get-togethers.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the tags. We'd love for you to join our "Tag! You're It!" challenge too!

Non-Traditional Christmas Colours

Wednesday, November 27, 2024
It's Janice's turn to host our Little Red Wagon challenge this week and she's looking for "non-traditional winter holiday" projects. Non-traditional could refer to themes, images, colours, styles, etc.

I created a card using purple and green papers instead of the traditional red and green typically associated with Christmas. Unfortunately, the sentiment on the tree did not photograph well. Although there isn't a great deal of contrast in person, it's more easily read than here. I could either get the letters to show better and be blinded by the glare of the glittery purple or save our sight and not have the lettering be as defined. In the interest of protecting our vision in order to later view the rest of the Design Team projects, I went with the latter option. The tree reads, "We wish you a merry Christmas".

Now it's time to head over to Little Red Wagon to check out the rest of the non-traditional winter holiday projects and then link up one (or more!) of your own.

Merry Christmas

Wednesday, November 20, 2024
Hello from the sunny and warm Bahamas! I'm currently on a four-night cruise and it's a lovely treat to get away just as the weather is turning colder in my part of Canada.

The very-creative Chrissy is hosting our latest Little Red Wagon challenge and she's looking for monochromatic creations. Stick to one colour (although you can use varying shade of that same colour).

As I created a Christmas card, I went with green! The stamps are ones I purchased in a set absolutely ages ago from Stampin' Up. I added some gemstones to finish things off and also used a snowy embossing folder for the green mat.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the monochromatic creations. We'd love for you to join in our challenge as well!

Toque-Wearing Ducks from the Great White North

Wednesday, November 13, 2024
The wonderful Imke is hosting this week's challenge at Little Red Wagon and she's chosen the theme "Wintertime". Essentially, anything related to winter is a go!

I'm heading off on a short cruise next week. A recent trend has been to hide rubber duckies around the ship (but nowhere near balconies!) for others to find. I put together a group of ducks and here are just a handful of them to show off. The ducks are wearing little toques - something worn by most Canadians during our cold winter months - and sunglasses. I attached a little Canada pin on each of the toques. The little ducks came in sets of 12 - with the sunglasses and toques ready to put on the ducks. I didn't have to knit!

Here's a close up of the tags:

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Girlfriends' Wintertime projects. We'd love for you to join the fun as well!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Wednesday, November 6, 2024
Happy November! Yesterday, I was wearing a skort, short-sleeved blouse and slides because it was 21C here in central Ontario (Canada) - unseasonably warm! I have to admit that, while I am incredibly concerned for our environment, I do enjoy the warmer temperatures. I feel a bit guilty about that.

I'm hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and have another Def Leppard-inspired challenge. This time, it's "White Lightning" and I'm looking for anything related to weather in any way. Although a big fan of Def Leppard, White Lightning is not a particular favourite of mine (please don't tell Joe, Rick or any of the others should you run into them) but it made for a good challenge theme so here we are!

Despite our unseasonably warm temperatures, I added snow to the background of my Christmas card using a Cuttlebug folder that I've had for years. The wreath is a new (generic) die and I cut out three layers. I was going to use a "Let it snow!" sentiment but opted for the one by My Craft Spot instead. It fit better with respect to the size but also seems more appropriate to the card.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created - and then work on your own project to link up with us!

You're So Sweet

Wednesday, October 30, 2024
Brenda is hosting this week's challenge over at Little Red Wagon and she must have sugar on the mind as she's looking for "Sweet Treats". Any sort of paper craft (e.g., cards, tags, altered items, scrapbook pages, etc.) inspired by or including sweet treats of any kind are just the sort of thing we'd love to see!

I used "Hog Heaven" stamps and dies from My Favorite Things to create my little scene. The scalloped dies and striped paper are also from My Favorite Things. I'm afraid I can't remember the creator of the cloud embossing folder I used but the little sentiment is from My Craft Spot.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon for more inspiration - but perhaps not until after you've eaten, at least if you're anything like me who often craves sweets whenever I seem them! The Design Team will have their projects posted for you to view - and then you can link up your own creation(s)!

Little Lamb

Wednesday, October 23, 2024
Buongiorno from Italy! I'm currently on an extended-family holiday for my niece's wedding in Tuscany tomorrow. Meanwhile, at Little Red Wagon, Jan is hosting and she's asking us to "Emboss It". This can mean heat, pressed or letterpress embossing.

I didn't have as much time as hoped to prepare my card. We flew out last Thursday afternoon and I learned on Tuesday that I needed to give a presentation on Thursday morning before leaving!! Somehow, I managed to pull it off. Thankfully, I'd already packed in the weekend. I used an embossing folder on my card. The sentiment will go inside, keeping the card sweet and simple - and saving precious minutes! The little lamb stamp and scalloped frame dies are from My Favorite Things.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see all the ways the Girlfriends have embossed. We'd love for you to join us too!

Ghosts and Goblins

Wednesday, October 16, 2024
Chrissy is hosting at Little Red Wagon and she's reminding us that "Hallowe'en is coming". Chrissy would like to see our Hallowe'en projects - spooky, cute or sweet!

I created a card with some spooky word art stamped and heat embossed with a sentiment from the no-longer-in-business-and-dearly-missed My Craft Spot. I also used a border die from My Craft Spot on either side of the sentiment panel. The rest was just cutting pieces of cardstock and spooky Hallowe'en patterned paper.

Head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Girlfriends' creations. As always, we'd love for you to join the fun too!

Happy Birthday

Wednesday, October 9, 2024
It's Imke's turn to host our challenge at Little Red Wagon this week and she wants to see "Black and White Plus One". Essentially, anything goes as long as your colour scheme sticks to black, white and one other colour.

I recently purchased a generic "Happy Birthday" word die and shadow die so put it to use with some black and white patterned paper, some white cardstock and some pink cardstock. The pink frame is cut using a die from My Favorite Things.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what colours the other Girlfriends have chosen to go along with black and white. We'd love for you to link up your own creations too!

Hallowe'en Treat Bags

Wednesday, October 2, 2024
I'm delighted to be hosting this week's challenge at Little Red Wagon. In keeping with themes inspired by Def Leppard this year, I've chosen "Lady Strange". Essentially, I'm looking for anything unique - such as repurposed items, unusual embellishments, etc.

We had some leftover medical gauze from my son's finger amputation this summer and I thought it would be fun to use some up on some Hallowe'en treat bags. Think mummies! I used a spooky fence border punch for the bottom strip and a Jaded Blossom die cut with haunted house patterned paper for the toppers. All treats went through my own personal quality control and I can vouch for their yumminess - especially the Reese's Cup Thins.

I'd love for you to join this week's challenge. Head over to Little Red Wagon for more inspiration and to link up your own creation!

December Calendar Card

Wednesday, September 25, 2024
Brenda is our fabulous hostess at Little Red Wagon and she's looking for numbers.

I used a NBUS embossing folder that I received in a grab box years ago. However, I knew it would be just perfect for this challenge! I layered some die cut branches (combining dies from Your Next Stamp and a generic brand) as well as a pine cone and berries (both from the same generic brand as some of the branches). I topped off the bunch with some crinkle ribbon. It would have been a fairly quick card to put together if it weren't for trying to remove the branch cuts from the cardstock after running through my die cutter. Turns out it wasn't as simple as I'd planned!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the rest of the Girlfriends have used numbers on their projects. We'd love to have you join us too!

Happy Birthday - Stitched Flowers

Wednesday, September 18, 2024
Janice is hosting at Little Red Wagon this week and she's asking "Sew What?". She'd like to see stitching of any kind on our projects - faux stitching, hand stitching, machine stitching, etc.

I enjoyed the time I spent stitching with embroidery thread on my little My Favorite Things' die cut flowers. It was nice to just sit, listen to music and stitch. I also did some faux stitching with the Mama Elephant Columbus Circle die which took far less time!! I heat embossed the tiny little sentiment which was from Simon Says Stamp's "Wild Flowers" set. The vellum leaves were cut with more My Favorite Things dies.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see all the stitching there! Once you've been inspired, we'd love for you to get out a needle and thread or pen or die cuts to join our "Sew What?" challenge.

Hello - I miss moo

Wednesday, September 11, 2024
Chrissy is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon and she wants us to shake things up! In other words, add a shaker to your project!

I used dies and stamps from My Favorite Things to create my shaker card. I seem to be all fingers whenever I make shakers but, things turned out in the end. I think it's cute!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see all the shakers created by the rest of the Design Team. We'd love for you to "shake things up" as well!

Amputation sympathy card

Wednesday, September 4, 2024
Imke's hosting our newest Little Red Wagon challenge and she's chosen the theme "sympathy". I did something a little bit different.

A few weeks ago, my son had a pretty nasty accident at work. His little finger was mostly amputated although stitched back together. Unfortunately, the finger is useless given that the circular saw he was using totally ate up the joint cartilage and also cut tendons and a nerves. Jack will have the finger amputated (with a bit of a stump!) on Thursday. Because our family has a bit of an odd sense of humour, Jack asked for a farewell party for his finger which we'll have tonight (Wednesday). He's asked for poutine and cheesecake. Yum!

I created the image in Canva using a pre-created hand with the little finger sticking out. If I had to make the card again, I think I would cut the image and sentiment separately and back them each with the red. That said, I REALLY hope I never have to make any such card again!!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the sympathy projects created by the rest of the Girlfriends - and then link up one of your own!

Have a Blast!

Wednesday, August 28, 2024
I'm hosting at Little Red Wagon this week and this time, the theme is once again inspired by a Def Leppard song (my 2024 challenge list inspiration). The song is Rocket - and I'm looking for anything with space (or even the sky).

I made this tiny gift bag (and it really is tiny, holding a gift card without height room for much more although about half an inch deep) using products from Your Next Stamp. The bag is a die cut and I used the Blast Off stamp set for the rocket and sentiment. The background panel is cut from a generic die although the size wasn't quite right so I ran the panel through my die cutter with the same die on it's side to get the panel dimensions I needed. I had lots of fun colouring the background with various distress inks (black, purple and blue), smooshing the ink onto the panel using some repurposed bubble wrap. I then added some white gel pen "stars" and finally added three die cut stars to finish things off.

I'd be thrilled if you joined in this week's challenge too! You can find the link up over at Little Red Wagon - and there is inspiration from the rest of the Girlfriends there too!

Hello

Wednesday, August 21, 2024
Brenda is asking us to "Put it in neutral" this week at Little Red Wagon. Simply put, she'd like to see neutral colours, tones and shades taking centre stage on our projects.

I used off-white and black cardstock to make my card. No stamping, just die cuts. Simple and neutral!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the rest of the Girlfriends put things in neutral. We'd love for you to join in the challenge too!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Wednesday, August 14, 2024
Sparkle and shine! That's Janice's happy way of encouraging us to pull out the glitter and sparkle for this week's Little Red Wagon challenge.

Well, I don't know about you, but when I hear "Sparkle and Shine", I think Christmas - so I made a Christmas card! I used a new Crafters Companion die set that came with a Simply Cards magazine. It seemed just the thing for this challenge. Once I die cut the top layer, I covered it in VersaMark and then used a sparkle embossing powder. I also used some glittery Christmas papers.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the Girlfriends' "Sparkle and shine" projects. We'd love to have you join in this week's challenge too!

Celebrate Your Big Day

Saturday, August 10, 2024
I'm afraid I'm late for our latest Little Red Wagon challenge. Unfortunately, I've been hit with Covid again. No fun!

Chrissy is looking for us to "Make it masculine". This is the card I made using an image from Mint Owl Studio, wonky dies from Lil Inker Designs and a sentiment from My Craft Spot. Unfortunately, none of these companies are still in business.

You still have a few days to join the fun too! Please head over to Little Red Wagon with your masculine make. For inspiration, check out the rest of the Girlfriends' projects!

Joy, Love, Peace

Wednesday, July 31, 2024
It's Christmas!! At least, it's Christmas in July over at Little Red Wagon. Imke is hosting and she's looking for some festive creations. And, in the spirit of diversity and inclusion, we'd love for you to join us with the winter holiday creation of your own faith/culture.

We celebrate Christmas at my house so I went with a Christmas card. I used a die from My Favorite Things and some cute stamps from Lawn Fawn. I like how this came together and am happy to have a second card to add to this year's Christmas card creations!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Christmas in July projects!

Happy Purr-thday

Wednesday, July 24, 2024
It's time for me to host again over at Little Red Wagon and I'm still singing Def Leppard songs! This time, it's "Two Steps Behind" and I'm looking for any sort of step card (or a card/project with a unique design).

I created a step card which is something I have not done in years. Unfortunately, there was an ink mishap up in the top left which resulted in a bend to the cardstock when trying to remove and ended up with a strategically placed circle with heart. The card doesn't open so I added some more patterned paper and a white panel to write a note.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the step/unique projects created by the Girlfriends. I'd love for you to join in as well!

Christmas Tree Card

Wednesday, July 17, 2024
Brenda is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and she wants us to raid our scrap bins! Essentially, look through your scraps and get creative!

I used a variety of blue/green scraps to create my rustic Christmas card. With the exception of the card base itself, all papers used are from my scrap caddy - including the paper used for the frame. I inked all the cuts and then added a layered star, pearls and jute bow. I was going to add a sentiment but preferred the look of the card without. I'll add something inside when I decide where this card will go.

I'm excited to see how the rest of the Girlfriends used their scraps this week. You can check them out too by heading over to Little Red Wagon. We'd love for you to join us as well!

When I Kneaded You

Wednesday, July 10, 2024
Happy Wednesday! It's a very wet and rainy day here as we get the remnants of Beryl.

This week, Janice is hosting our challenge at Little Red Wagon and she wants us to showcase things we love. You could create a project about something you love or use a technique or product that you love. There's lots of interpretation here!

I combined two things I especially love on my card - cats and puns! I used some paper from a cat pack I purchased years (decades!) ago along with stamps from My Favorite Things. The dies are generic.

A couple of years ago during Cosette's healthier days

I actually made this card for our vet clinic. Last week, we had to say goodbye to our sweet little Cosette. She turned 20 in May so lived an especially long life for a cat. She came to us as a stray when we was about five months old or so, having shown up at a student's country home. My daughter and I had seen Les Miserables the week before we got Cosette so named her after the heroine of the story. Cosette's health wasn't the greatest for the past few years but something must have happened through the night on Wednesday as I woke Thursday to her not being able to stand, let alone walk. I'm so thankful for the gift that she was to her family. She's missed.

I'm sure you all have something in your lives that you love so I do hope you'll join this week's Little Red Wagon challenge!

Be Still

Wednesday, July 3, 2024

It's July! Chrissy is starting off the month at Little Red Wagon with a "Light Up the Sky" (make a night sky) challenge.

I tore and inked up a page from an old dictionary and then created a blue and black mat for my card, spritzing some water droplets. I also used a My Favorite Things stencil to add stars. The stamps are from Flora and Fauna and I used my NBUS Dymo to create the sentiment strips.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the night sky projects - and then link up one of your own!

Happy Birthday Snow Card

Wednesday, June 19, 2024
Welcome or welcome back! I'm excited to be hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge. This time, my Def Leppard-inspired theme is "Women". I'm looking for any sort of feminine creation. How you interpret that is up to you.

One of my best girlfriends shares my birthday and we are alike in many ways. However, I'm all about sun and sand while she absolutely loves snow. As her favourite colour is yellow, I created this yellow snowflake card for her. The colours are a bit softer in real life. I also added some little diamond gems on the die cut snowflakes for an added touch of femininity.

I'd love for you to join our challenge too! You can head over to Little Red Wagon  to view the rest of the Girlfriends' projects and then link up a creation of your own!

You are Just "Plane" Amazing

Wednesday, June 12, 2024
It's Imke's turn to host this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and she's got a fun one for us - Planes, Trains and Automobiles. She's actually looking for a creation with any sort of vehicle so you're not actually limited to one of the three. I think I find the challenge especially fun as the name of it reminds me of a movie by the same title. John Candy, one of the stars of the film, was a wonderfully talented Canadian comedic actor.

I pulled out a stamp set from Your Next Stamp for the image and sentiment. I then combined some patterned papers and die cut a coiled border strip. I don't use patterned paper as much as I should. I like the look and I have far too much of it!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Planes, Trains and Automobiles challenge creations made by the talented Girlfriends. We'd love for you to join the fun too!

Kind-Hearted People Like You

Wednesday, June 5, 2024
Janice is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and she's been practicing her "So cute!" comments for your entries. Janice is looking for cute creations of all kinds.

I'd actually thought the challenge was "cute critters" so knew I wanted to use an image from Reverse Confetti. In fact, I was hoping to use a little bunny from their Easter set but I must have misfiled the stamp set as it was not where it should have been. Either that or somebody broke into the house and stole that particular stamp set, leaving the cash, electronics and jewellery behind. Anyway, this little mouse is super cute and I decided she would be perfect on a card for one of my aunties who always sends me little notes and readings through the post. The sentiment, clouds and little hearts are from a My Favorite Things set. The dies are from a generic set that I had admired on my wonderfully talented friend Shani's blog so bought a set of my own!

Head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the "so cute!" creations - and then link up one of your own!

Wedding card, sweatshirt and mug

Wednesday, May 29, 2024
How is it the end of May already?! Time has just been flying.

Chrissy is our hostess at Little Red Wagon this week and she wants things to be "Bigger than normal". Big card, big bookmarks, big paper centrepieces, etc.

My niece got married a couple of weeks ago and I made this card for her and her husband, designing things in Kittl. I printed the card on a regular piece of cardstock and then cut and trimmed it. I thought it was 5x7 but, looking at the photo, I'm not sure that those dimensions are correct. However, I did need to get a larger envelope so I promise you that it is indeed bigger than my typical cards!

The name is a bit of a joke as my niece, whose last name is Hamilton, and her husband, whose last name is Herbinger, mashed up their name a few years ago, becoming the Herbiltons. We all refer to them as the Herbiltons, their email address is the Herbiltons, etc.
As the Herbiltons have been living together for a number of years, they did not have any sort of wedding registry and nobody knew what they wanted. It wasn't until I suggested a litter of kittens would make for a lovely gift for newlyweds that they let family and friends know that contributions toward camping would be appreciated. I used the same graphic on the card and ordered his-and-hers sweatshirts to wear around the campfire on cool summer evenings. I decided to add a couple of mugs to the order too (although not the best for camping, I know).

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the Girlfriends' BIG projects - and then create something larger than you typically do so you can join in our fun!

You're Amazing

Wednesday, May 22, 2024
It's Imke's turn to host our weekly Little Red Wagon challenge and she wants to see "Just One" - just one layer, that is. Create a bookmark, page, card or décor item that is just one layer.

I love the look of masking on cards and decided to go this route to add some interest to my one-layered creation. I simply took a strip of cello tape and put it across my card about two-thirds of the way down - and after sticking it to my dress to get most of the stickiness off. I then used a variety of stamps from a hardly-ever-used Simon Says Stamp Amazing set to create my background. The sentiment is from the same set and was added once I removed the cello tape.

The shape of the card is a bit off as it seems I forgot to measure twice, cut once when making my card base. Either that, or I forgot how to count altogether! It wasn't until I folded the card and went to score it that I realized the dimensions seemed a bit off. Typically, the recipients of my cards are not aware of standard card sizes so I doubt it will be an issue.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what Imke and the rest of the Girlfriends have created to inspire you. We'd love to have you join the fun too!

Congratulations Card - Inspired by Aerosmith's "Pink"

Wednesday, May 15, 2024
I'm hosting again at Little Red Wagon and I'm confusing everybody this week as I'm continuing with my Def Leppard-inspired songs while having been inspired by Aerosmith for today's creation. Let me explain...

The challenge is Let's Get Rocked which is the name of a 1992 Def Leppard hit. However, I'm challenging crafters to be inspired by the rock song of their choice. As my niece recently gave birth to a precious little girl, I cranked up Aerosmith's Pink and got to work on this card.

I used products from Your Next Stamp (background die, sentiment and elephant), My Favorite Things (banner die and photo frame die), Cuttlebug (embossing folder) and My Craft Spot (twine) to create my PINK card.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what songs have inspired the rest of the Girlfriends' Let's Get Rocked creations. I'm exited to visit your blogs to see what you create too!

Thoughts and Prayers - Sympathy Card

Wednesday, May 8, 2024
It's Brenda's turn to host our Little Red Wagon weekly challenge and she's looking for us to create our own backgrounds.

Mine is a fairly (very!) simple card. I used a stencil to blend some Speckled Egg distress ink in an oval shape. I purchased this ink when it first came out and it's been sitting, still wrapped, on my ink shelf since its arrival! I then stamped a MFT flower trio - which seems to be my go-to sympathy stamp. I really like the simple elegance of the stamp. I finished things off with a sentiment from My Craft Spot, some black paint splatter and three little pearls. I decided I liked things better without the pearls but they were not having anything to do with me removing them without a trace so I decided they could stay.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have done for backgrounds - and then join in the fun too!

Pyramid Card

Wednesday, May 1, 2024
It's been a few weeks! My craft room needed some minor repair so has been in a slight state of disrepair. I was able to see through the drywall dust and find my way to papercrafting goodies in order to join this week's challenge at Little Red Wagon. Janice is hosting and she wants to see our "Shapely" creations. Basically, anything other than a square or a rectangle.

I decided to go with a pyramid card - taking three 4x4 bits of cardstock and arranging them together. I was going to have my little doily off to the side to have the side tuck in but didn't really like that so put the doily in the middle and used a little velcro dot to hold things together. And I realize it opens backwards but I liked the look better with the paper I used. The card lies flat - including the little accordion heart I made for the doily. No sentiment as I don't really have a purpose for this card. I figure I'll just write inside when the time comes - Happy Birthday! Sorry you've been ill... Thanks so much! Lots of options.

I can't wait to see the Girlfriends' "Shapely" projects - and you're welcome to head to Little Red Wagon to check them out too! We'd love for you to join the challenge as well!

Hello - Daffodils

Wednesday, April 10, 2024
It's my turn to host at Little Red Wagon and this week, I've chosen "Photograph", inspired once again by a Def Leppard tune. Pretty much anything goes, I just ask that you include the inspirational photograph in your post.

My daffs are blooming. This time of year, I take a lot of photos of daffodils. I'm including the first one of the year as it inspired this week's card creation.

Please look through your own photos - or photos online - and create with that as your inspiration. Then link up at Little Red Wagon. I'm sure the Girlfriends would be delighted to have you check out their creations too!

Thank you

Wednesday, April 3, 2024
It's Brenda's turn to host this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and she's looking for fun folds. As long as your creation does not have a standard top or side fold, you're good!

I just realized as I wrote the above that my card does indeed have a standard side fold. However, it takes a turn from the typical with the front being cut to half its usual side and an extra panel used. I'm hoping that's fun enough for Brenda! The "Thank You" was cut from dies from My Craft Spot. How I miss My Craft Spot!

I hope you'll join me over at Little Red Wagon to see the fun folds used by the rest of the Girlfriends. Once you've been inspired, please link up your own project!

Happy Birthday - Gromit Card

Wednesday, March 27, 2024
Goodness gracious, it's the final Wednesday of March. We thought spring had arrived here in Central Ontario, Canada (in fact, it was a mostly spring-like winter this year) but Mother Nature played some cruel jokes on us last week! We had a few days of snow, including a nasty storm on Friday. However, the snow has all melted again and I even noticed a couple of my daffodils just starting to poke up through the soil.

Janice is hosting our Little Red Wagon challenge this week and she's all about "Animal Antics". Basically, include an animal on your project and you're good to go!

My younger brother's birthday is next month and I've made this card for him. He loves Gromit (from Wallace and Gromit) and also loves his cups of tea each day. When I saw the Wallace and Gromit stamp set I used here (which came free in a magazine), I thought of David right away and the unnecessary purchase was made. When he was first married, their first dog was named Gromit. Actually, his name was Comet at the rescue but they immediately changed it to Gromit!

I had a very difficult time photographing the card due to the glittery paw-print hearts panel but trust me when I tell you there are some embossed teapots and such on the right side. I was tempted to use a "Yappy Birthday" sentiment but decided against it due to the fact that Gromit is an incredibly quiet dog. Sometimes, these sorts of things matter in this head of mine!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created. We'd love to see your Animal Antics creations too!

Amazing, marvellous grace

Wednesday, March 20, 2024
Chrissy is our talented hostess at Little Red Wagon this week and she's looking for florals. You can do anything you like, as long as you include a flower or two - or more!

This time of year is important in the Anglican tradition as it's the period of Lent. Although I'm typically far more of a spiritual person than a religious person, I do become religious at Lent. This year, I've given up cream which is something I love (whipped cream on my lattes, ice cream, Irish cream, etc.). I decided I could still use hand cream though. I have no plans to ingest it. Anyway, this scripture page was made last year during my time of Lent as my word of focus was "grace". I wish marvellous was spelled correctly though. *sigh*

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends are doing with florals. We'd love for you to join in as well!

God Cares for the Sparrow (and Budgie)

Wednesday, March 13, 2024
Happy Wednesday! It's Imke's turn to host this week's challenge and Little Red Wagon and she's calling out, "Easy Peasy". She's looking for CAS projects.

Unfortunately, my son's budgie passed away a couple of weeks ago. His birds are like his kids and he takes such good care of them. I saved one of Sky's little feathers and created this very simple card which I tucked in a glass frame. I printed off the text, cut the card to size, cut a heart using a punch and then attached the little feather on the heart. My son placed the frame on his desk.

There is a verse in the Bible about God caring for the sparrow which is why the card starts with a sparrow and then adds for the budgie too. I trust that God doesn't mind me changing things up a bit with holy scripture.

Truth be told, when I first made the little card-in-frame for him, Jack returned it to me and told me that he wasn't sure whether or not to say anything but decided he would. I'd put the year as 2022!! I have no idea what was going on in my brain that I entered the text, centred it, made sure I liked the positioning of everything, printed it, looked it over, cut to size and then added to the frame AND took a photo, all the while never realizing I was off by a couple of years. Anyway, I'm back to the present now!!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the CAS creations made by the rest of the Girlfriends. It would be great to have you join us too!

I Didn't Planet That Way

Wednesday, March 6, 2024
How is it already Wednesday again? And how is it March? The days, weeks and months seem to be flying by.

I'm this week's hostess at Little Red Wagon and I'm continuing with my Def Leppard-inspired challenges for 2024. This time, it's "Foolin'" and I'm looking for projects with puns, jokes, funnies, etc.

I put my card together using Lawn Fawn's Year Eleven stamps and dies which I received as part of a grab bag purchase from Simon Says Stamp a year or two ago. I've not used this set before but had it in mind when I chose this challenge. One of the planets was hand created with a circle die and then a hat from another Lawn Fawn set, Year Four (Hippo Birdie). The background was made with a variety of distress inks and then cut from a no-brand die. It's popped on the card although difficult/impossible to tell in the photo.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon for some more smiles, chuckles and laughs! I'd love for you to join the fun too. I always love a good pun, joke or anything else that will bring a smile to my face!

Happy Easter

Wednesday, February 28, 2024
It's the wonderful Brenda's turn hosting our latest Little Red Wagon challenge and she's calling out to us to "Use a Stencil".

I have a number of stencils in my stash although I'm not sure whether or not I've ever used this Simon Says Stamp "Oval of Flowers" before. As I've been feeling rather under the weather with headaches over the past number of days, I decided to create something fairly simple. In addition to the stencil, I used a bunny and sentiment from Reverse Confetti and a frame from My Favorite Things.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the rest of the Girlfriends used stencils on their projects. We'd love for you to join us too!

Happy Birthday to You

Wednesday, February 21, 2024
Janice is hosting at Little Red Wagon this week and she's selected "Off the edge" for this week's challenge. Jan is hoping to see elements extend off the card base or project page, etc.

While I typically like everything contained within my card space, I have had a few instances where I've gone "off the edge". I made this card for my aunty who will be having a birthday next month. Fortunately, I have some slightly larger than A2-sized envelopes so no elements will be harmed in the posting of my card.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the other Girlfriends have gone "off the edge" - and then link up a project of your own!

I Really Love You

Wednesday, February 14, 2024
Happy Valentine's Day! May your day be full of love and blessings.

The talented Chrissy is this week's Little Red Wagon hostess and she's chosen "Valentine's Day - Show us some love" as the challenge theme.

I created a masculine card which can be used for Valentine's Day or any day really! With the exception of the tiny heart made with a little paper punch, I used a variety of My Favorite Things dies, mixing two different sets (I Really Miss You and Love) to create the sentiment. I also used an ancient Cuttlebug embossing folder for the off-white mat.

Head over to Little Red Wagon to experience all the love there - and then join up your own Valentine's Day/Love project.

PS For those of you who follow a Lenten practice, may you be blessed along your journey to grace and light. 💕

Birthday Blessings Beautiful

Wednesday, February 7, 2024
It's the wonderful Imke's turn to host this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and she wants to see numbers. Whether it's a number for a birthday, anniversary, countdown or anything else, add it to your project!

Even though my daughter's birthday isn't until August, I decided to work ahead and make a card for her special day. I cannot believe that my girl is going to be 30 this year!! I used some of the leftover papers from last week's treat boxes. The little wooden embellishment behind the number 30 was part of a set of wooden embellishments I found in my stocking - and I'm pretty sure my daughter helped Santa find them!!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the other Girlfriends included numbers in their projects - and then link up your creation too!

Something Special - Just for You

Wednesday, January 31, 2024
I can't believe that it's the last day of January. I usually find that January and February drag but time has been flying.

It's my first time hosting at Little Red Wagon for 2024. This year, I'm using Def Leppard as inspiration for my challenges and this week, it's "Pour Some Sugar on Me", one of my favourites that always takes me back to my uni days. I recently learned that Def Leppard will be playing with Journey in Toronto this summer - but I'll be across the ocean at the time. At least I have my Def Leppard-themed Little Red Wagon challenges!

For this challenge, I'm looking for anything sweet - whether that's sweet like candy or something that you would just think, "Well, isn't that sweet" such as a cute animal or tiny little something. I made treat bags to hold some Valentine's Day sweets. The bag die is from an online discount store. I didn't have much luck with another set I purchased there but this one is fabulous! The bows, doilies, hearts and sentiments are all created with supplies from My Craft Spot.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the rest of the Girlfriends interpreted the challenge. We'd love for you to join in as well!

Mum - You are So Loved

Wednesday, January 24, 2024
Brenda is encouraging us to put our NBUS items to good use this week with our latest Little Red Wagon challenge. Look through your stash and find something you've not yet used!

About a year ago, I purchased the "Everything Wonderful" card kit from My Favorite Things. I'm embarrassed to say that the box - along with the other items I purchased in that order - remained intact in my craft room. I'm thankful to Brenda for this challenge as it gave me the opportunity to put some wonderful supplies to use as I created a Mother's Day card for my beautiful mum. The stitched flowers are from the card kit and the little "Blooming with Love" sentiment is also from the same unused order.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon and admire how the other Girlfriends used unused items from their stash. Then use this wonderful opportunity to put your neglected items to work!
