My Craft Spot Release Party - Blog Hop!

Saturday, June 29, 2013
Welcome to the My Craft Spot Release Party Blog Hop!!  Hopefully, you've just arrived from the incredibly talented Robin's blog - Robin's Creative Cottage.  After a week of sneak peeks, today is the day that all NEW releases will be revealed in their entirety - plus, each new item is now available for sale!  Be sure to stop at each blog along the way, for Kimberly has very generously offered a NEW product to be given away at EACH of the design team blogs.  How exciting!!

Here at Small Bits of Paper, I'll be giving away the
NEW Tasty Treats stamp set so, of course, I just had to make something with a tasty treat!  It's strawberry season here in Ontario so I upcycled a paper bag to create a little basket to hold some fresh Ontario strawberries.  (My boys were very cooperative to be sure I had some strawberries left for my basket!!)  To create the basket, I modified Lia Griffith's instructions found HERE.

I had lots of fun using a variety of My Craft Spot products for my basket's banner!  I began with the Tiny Doilies metal die set, cutting out a shadow, doily and white centre.  The shadow was stamped using the NEW Pattern Blocks stamp set.  For the top layer, I used the NEW Tasty Treats stamp set, stamping the sentiment in black and red ink.  (My "berry" is a bit too high as I stamped the red after stamping the black and was a little bit off.  The stamp itself is perfectly aligned!)  Isn't the font so fun?!

For the actual banner, I used Lacy Banners metal dies for the large (relatively speaking!) kraft pennant.  I stamped each one with a stamp from the NEW Pattern Blocks stamp set.  I used the NEW Tiny Banners and Toppers metal dies for the rest of the banner, with the white and green layers stamped with different stamps from Pattern Blocks.  I then cut out "yum" from the NEW Small Alphabet metal dies.  I finished everything off with a strawberry vine from Spellbinders (with the top layer of the vine removed) and some Holly Green baker's twine, available from My Craft Spot.  Two resized kebab sticks are holding everything up.

Don't forget to leave a comment below for your chance to win the NEW Tasty Treats stamp set.  You have until tomorrow (Sunday) at midnight EST to leave a comment.  I will select and announce the random winner on Monday. Here's what the lucky winner will be getting:

(Check out THIS post for lots of "Tasty Treats" inspiration!)

Your next stop along the way is the amazingly talented Heather at Houses Built of Cards

Below is a list of the full blog hop - and don't forget to check out the reveal of the entire NEW line of stamp sets and metal dies at My Craft Spot!

My Craft Spot Release Party - Day Five

Friday, June 28, 2013
Welcome to Day Five of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!!  It's the last day of sneak peeks - but not the last day of the party.  Tomorrow, we'll finish things off with a bang with the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party Blog Hop - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!

Out in blogland, I've seen lots of you using the little sentiments from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags and Tiny Tags 2 stamp sets.  I'm sure you'll all be thrilled to learn that there is now a Tiny Tags 3!!  These wee sentiments are designed to fit perfectly with the My Craft Spot Tiny Tags metal dies.  They're also perfect for a little extra something on your creations!

We're also showcasing the NEW 4" Doily metal die today.  I gasped with excitement when I first saw the die!!  I LOVE it!  I barely had the die in my hands before I was whipping out my Cuttlebug to try it out!

For today's card, I started with the doily, using a pale blue cardstock which I inked with Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers distress ink.  (Thanks, Tammy from Beyond Measure!!) I then covered it with sparkly Mod Podge AND covered it with a generous helping of glitter!  Once dry, I layered a smaller doily from My Craft Spot's Tiny Doilies metal dies.  This smaller doily was stamped using the NEW My Craft Spot Pattern Blocks stamps.  I also traced a metal die from My Craft Spot's Lacy Banners set in order to create the circle inside the tiny doily.  The bird and branch are a Stampin' Up punch and were stamped with coordinating Stampin' Up stamps.  There's a bit of tulle layered behind the tiny doily as well.

Underneath the doily, I layered some My Craft Spot Vanilla Bean crinkle ribbon, some incredibly white lace which was "antiqued" with some Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink and a layer of tickets punched with the My Craft Spot Tickets metals dies.  The tickets were stamped with the NEW My Craft Spot Pattern Blocks stamps as well as an outline from the My Craft Spot Tickets stamp set.  The top layer of my border was created with some Ivory jute string, also available at My Craft Spot

The mat for my card was distressed using a paper distresser and some distress ink.  I also stitched around the outside of the mat.  I added a little blue crochet "nest" and three blue pearl "eggs" to go inside.  Finally, I finished things off with a little tag cut from the NEW My Craft Spot Tiny Banners and Toppers metals dies which had been stamped with a stamp from the NEW Pattern Blocks stamp set as well as a sentiment from the NEW Tiny Tags 3 set.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to check out the amazing projects created by the rest of the design team.  There's a fabulous assortment of sweet and fun to elegant and beautiful!  Plus, leave a comment there for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize:  a set of Tiny Tags metal dies!!

All items from this week's release will be available for purchase tomorrow!!

Come back tomorrow for the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party Blog Hop - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!!

My Craft Spot Release Party - Day Four

Thursday, June 27, 2013
Welcome to Day Four of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!!  Today, we're showcasing the NEWEST arrival to the My Craft Spot "Stampin' Around" series: Stampin' Around Summer.  This set has some fabulous summertime sentiments plus a number of wonderful little images - all of which coordinate perfectly with My Craft Spot's Tiny Doilies metal dies.

Well, my project isn't necessarily about summer - but it IS about relaxing, which is the best part of summer!  One of my colleagues is expecting and we all chipped in to purchase a gift certificate to the spa for her.  When I saw this new sentiment, I knew it would be perfect for the card to go with our gift!

I used an image from 9 Months for my card and popped it to create some dimension.  I love the big belly popping out of the tub!!  The young woman looks so relaxed.  The tub was cut from cardstock with a vellum layer over top for the bubbles.  It's difficult to tell in the photo, but the bottom white panel has been scored to create a panel look for the bathroom wall and I used a Fiskars' punch for the "chair rail".  The wonderful bubble paper is from my stash.

Using the My Craft Spot Tiny Doilies metal dies, I created a 3-layer tag with white cardstock and blue  vellum.  I stamped the top layer with one of the NEW Stampin' Around Summer sentiments.  I finished everything off with a couple of layered gems.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the wonderfully summery projects created by the rest of the design team.  While you're there, remember to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize:  the Stampin' Around Spring stamp set!

(*All items from this week's release will be available for purchase on Saturday.)

My Craft Spot Release Party - Day Three

Wednesday, June 26, 2013
Welcome to Day Three of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!!  The team has all had fun with today's stamp set release:  Down on the Farm!   As soon as I saw the set, I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use... probably because I howled with laughter when I first read it!!  I figured that if it made me laugh so hard, it would make a perfect pick-me-up for somebody having a rough ("ruff") time!

I created my box using slightly modified instructions from Split Coast Stampers (found HERE). Before assembling the box, I stamped around the kraft cardstock with a little paw-print from Studio G.  It's actually from a cat set, but who's to know?!  The fun paper is from DCWV's The Pets Stack and backed with some black cardstock.  The sweet little pup and hydrant are from Paper Pups - as is the bone at the top of the box.

I created a dog tag using circles cut from my Creative Memories Custom Cutting System and stamped it with the hilarious sentiment from My Craft Spot's NEW Down on the Farm stamp set.  I finished everything off with a fire hydrant brad from my stash and some fabulous red jute string from My Craft Spot.

Be sure to check out the rest of today's Down on the Farm creations over at My Craft Spot.  While you are there, don't forget to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's fabulous prize: the Best Witches to You stamp set!

(*All items from this week's release will be available for purchase on Saturday.)

My Craft Spot Release Party - Day Two

Tuesday, June 25, 2013
Welcome to Day Two of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!!  Today, we've got THREE new items to showcase: Pattern Blocks stamp set, Tiny Banners and Toppers metal dies AND Small Alphabet metal dies!!  I am SO excited about today's release as I love the new stamps and dies - and have been having lots of fun with them already.

It will be my youngest son's last day of Grade 5 on Thursday so I created these cards for him to give his teachers.  After creating my card base and mat, rounding the right corners, I used one of the 15 stamps from the the NEW Pattern Blocks stamp set to create the mesh border along the side, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line things up each time.  I then created the banner by using a banner die and topper die from the NEW Tiny Banners and Toppers metal dies.  I used different Pattern Blocks stamps on my cardstock to add some interest.  Layered on each of the banner pennants are letters cut with the NEW Small Alphabet metal dies.  I LOVE the way these cards turned out!

Each card also has a Create a Critter apple popped on the front.  I stamped the leaves of each one with the NEW Pattern Blocks stamps as well.  Under each apple is a sentiment from My Craft Spot's Thank You stamp set.  I finished things off with a Die-namics Notebook Edge border and some Holly Green baker's twine from My Craft Spot.

For more sneak peeks of today's new releases, head over to My Craft Spot.  Plus, be sure to leave a comment there for Kimberly for your chance to win today's giveaway:  Melissa's Favourites Crinkle Ribbon (Spring Breeze, Raspberry Truffle and Vanilla Bean).

(*All items from this week's release will be available for purchase on Saturday. Woo hoo!)

My Craft Spot Release Party - Day One

Monday, June 24, 2013
Welcome to Day One of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!!  I've been so excited about this release and the timing is perfect.  With a busy school year behind me, I've been able to enjoy some craft room time and am REALLY enjoying the new stamps and metal dies.  Today, each of the My Craft Spot design team members is showcasing projects created with the first of the new release stamp sets.  (Be sure to check out all the projects over at My Craft Spot.)

As soon as I saw the new stamp set, I knew I wanted to use the "Hot dog! You did it!" sentiment.  The hot dog and mustard images are from Fast Food and I used the mustard label for the fun sentiment.  The little banners above are cut from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tag metal dies and stamped with sentiments from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags 2.  I finished things off with some Lemon Tart baker's twine - also from My Craft Spot.

I just have to share this story:  I have never, ever in my life asked for a hot dog.  (I have eaten them before, but they're not something I would ever request.) In fact, when I was younger, I refused to eat them.  I've never even made hot dogs for my children.  However, after making this card, I asked my husband to barbecue some hot dogs for supper!!  He thought my brain had been taken over by some sort of alien imposter!!  I did serve the hot dogs with a variety of salads though - and enjoyed the meal.

Be sure to come back tomorrow  to see more of the new release!  I'll be showcasing projects all week.  On Saturday, we'll have a blog hop with prizes along each stop of the way!  And Kimberly is offering prizes EVERY day over at My Craft Spot.  Be sure to leave her a comment there for your chance to win today's prize, the original Tiny Tags stamp set.

Great Friends are We - and My Craft Spot Stamp Release Info!

Monday, June 17, 2013
I am on holidays!!  I've had such a busy couple of months with work and a course that I am taking.  One day, I'll learn not to bite off more than I can chew!!  Today, I'll be chaperoning my youngest son's class trip to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto and then, for the rest of the week, I'll be filling up my days with visits with friends, crafting, and visits to blogging friends!  I'm so excited for "me" time.

This week at My Craft Spot, our challenge is "Cute as a Bug".  Tomorrow, I'm having lunch with a dear friend and I will send this card through the post after our time together to let her know how much I appreciate her friendship.

I created this card using Live Simply for the frame and the sweet bee/flower image which I've popped on my card.  I embossed the white frame with a honeycomb folder from Stampin' Up.  The white mat is embossed with a cloud folder (sent to me from Jayne of Jayne Designs). I added some googly eyes to my bee and a bit of doodling to the wings.  I also embossed the stamen.

The wonderful sentiment I've chosen is from My Craft Spot's Butterfly Kisses.  I've always loved this sentiment but this is the first time I've used it.  I framed the sentiment with some punched flowers and added some Lemon Tart baker's twine from My Craft Spot to finish things off.

I've got some great news!!  The My Craft Spot designers are busy creating for next week's stamp and metal dies release.  I can't wait for you to see the FABULOUS new products that Kimberly has in store for you!!  They are so fun!  In order to get this party started, we've got a button for you to post on your blog to help spread the word.  Post the button and let Kimberly know you did so HERE.  One lucky blogger will win a My Craft Spot prize: the Birthday Wishes stamp set!!

Please head over to My Craft Spot to link up your own "Cute as a Bug" creation for this week's challenge.  Also, I'd love it if you would leave a comment for me here.  I know I've been behind in my blog visits, but I'm really looking forward to making the rounds this week and catching with you.  (I plan to go back through my past few posts as well.)  See you soon!!

DAD - UR the Best!

Monday, June 3, 2013
This week at My Craft Spot, we are getting ready to celebrate Father's Day.  I don't have a father, but I am blessed to have a wonderful husband who is the father of our fabulous children.  My youngest son worked with me to create this card for his dad.  I love having a crafting buddy!

I used some burlap to create the oversized banner and stitched along the edges.  My son ran the background through the Cuttlebug (he loves the Cuttlebug as much as I do!) with a chevron folder from Stampin' Up.  I cut the mustache from Mustaches and Glasses and the DAD letters from Go Canada.

My son cut out the little star tag layers from My Craft Spot's Lacy Banners metal die set.  He also chose the sentiment which comes from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags 2.  I had initially wanted to use the U Rock sentiment (from the same stamp set), but my son looked through the stamps and decided that UR the Best was the better choice, telling me that his dad IS the best. We finished things off with some fun googly eyes and extra thread around the card.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to check out the creations by the rest of the design team and to link up your own "Dad" creation for a chance to win this week's prize... some fabulous baker's twine!
