Sending You Sunshine

It's time for a new challenge at Little Red Wagon! Heather is our hostess this week and she's chosen the theme Sunshiny Days: Use a sun on your project.

I used a number of products from different companies to make my card. The palm tree, sentiment and face on the sun are all from different Your Next Stamp stamp sets. The sun itself is a die from My Favourite Things and the puffy clouds border is from Lawn Fawn. (I actually just got the puffy clouds borders yesterday. I wasn't too happy with the look of my original sky and was able to make a quick replacement. Yay!) The blue patterned paper is from Stampin' Up and cut using a Simon Says Stamp die. I finished things off with a yellow strip of cardstock and some retired sequins from My Craft Spot.

Sunny Days Ahead

I was so excited to open my mailbox today and find that my Simon Says Stamp Kit of the Month had arrived (along with some other goodies that I had ordered)! After supper, the boys did all the clean up so I could hide out in my craft room and test everything out. This is the first Kit of the Month that I've ordered and it was so fun using a number of new and coordinating supplies to create.

The green cardstock, patterned papers, sentiment, speech bubble, sun and kite are all from the Kit of the Month. The stamps didn't come with dies so I created shadows for the images using my Silhouette. I coloured the sun but paper pieced the kite. I used my stitched rectangle dies for the mat and frame and used my Lawn Fawn Hillside Borders for the grassy hill. I used a tiny punch that I've had in my stash since my early crafting days to make the flowers and coloured some little pearls for the middles.

Thanks (Three Ways)

Happy snowy Monday! I can't believe we're getting snow on April 25!

The colours for this week's Your Next Stamp colour challenge (#37) are gorgeous. I needed to create a set of thank you cards and also wanted to work on some of my watercolouring skills, so I decided to get to work (or, should I say, I decided to play)!

For my first card, I used the "smooshing" technique by adding colours from my Zig markers to my craft mat, spritzing it with water and then pressing my watercolour paper onto my mat. This panel was then cut using a My Favorite Things Stitched Scallop Rectangle Frames die, but I used the negative piece and recycled the frame.

For the second card, I used distress inks and my blending tools. This panel was cut using a Simon Says Stamp's Stitched Rectangle die.

For my third card, I scribbled my Zig markers on my craft mat (one at a time), spritzed them with water and then used a large paintbrush to add colour to my panel. I dried each colour with my heat tool before adding the next. This panel was also cut using a Simon Says Stamp's Stitched Rectangle die. I think I like this one best.

All cards have a "thanks" added. These were cut from black cardstock using Your Next Stamp's Fancy Thanks die. The die is this month's free with $40 purchase and I picked it up when I placed my most recent order. I love it! I finished everything off with some retired sequins from My Craft Spot.

I love you (a bushel and a peck)

I had some quality crafting time this weekend and was able to create a few cards. This one is for My Favorite Things' latest sketch challenge.

I started by using a retired Market Street Stamps woodgrain background stamp with Versamark on kraft cardstock and then cut out a mat with a stitched rectangle die from Simon Says Stamp. I also stamped an additional strip and used stitched scallop dies from My Favorite Things to cut three circular frames. I also cut some black circles to go behind the frames using dies from Simon Says Stamp. The sweet mice and apples are from My Favorite Things' Harvest Mouse set - which I bought in spring as it was just TOO cute to pass up! The sentiment is from the same set and heat embossed in white. I cut it with a retired die from My Craft Spot.

Mad About You

Happy Sunday! I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. I surprised the family with a new Wasgij (reverse perspective puzzle). I typically buy the Christmas ones and we start them Christmas eve but decided to get one now too! It's so nice to have puzzles out as we are all drawn to them at different times. I love it best when all five of us are working on it at the same time.

I did find time to craft and am playing along in the latest Your Next Stamp sketch challenge (#37). I created my card for my husband (a math and PE teacher) using YNS's Perfect Chemistry stamp set. I created my own background papers by creating a brick wall stencil with my Silhouette and using it to ink up some watercolour papers with distress inks. The math equation was an image that I found online, printed and inked with the same distress inks. Each of the mats was cut using stitched rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp.

Everything is adhered to gray cardstock. I finished things off with some sequins (retired from My Craft Spot).
