My Craft Spot Mini-Release: Flowers-Daisy Metal Dies!

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Hello crafting friends! I'm still camping and will return tomorrow so this is a pre-scheduled post. Before I left, I had LOTS of fun playing with the NEW My Craft Spot Flowers - Daisy and Speech Bubbles metal dies!! Today, the design team is showcasing projects with the Flowers - Daisy dies and tomorrow we'll all be back to share our Speech Bubbles projects. However, BOTH sets are available for purchase today! Just head over to the My Craft Spot Shop to get yours!

For my project, I started by embossing the white mat with a daisy chain embossing folder. I then used the NEW Flowers - Daisy metal dies to cut 3 daisy shapes out of my pattern paper. Using the same die, I cut some of the flowers in white and puzzle-pieced them into the pattern paper. I then used one of the bigger dies to create the larger daisy. (This was cut twice with the two cuts layered.) I used the metal dies for the daisy centers too - and embossed each one with a tiny Cuttlebug folder.

After cutting a yellow border with the Fancy Edges metal dies, I assembled my card, adding a yellow jute string bow behind my larger daisy. I also used a little tag from the Jar Basics metal die set on which I stamped a portion of a sentiment from Tiny Tags 2.  I love the summery look of this card!

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the team has created to showcase the NEW Flowers - Daisy metal die set. PLUS, leave a comment there for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: a $15US gift certificate to the My Craft Spot Shop!!

Ballerina Poodle

Monday, July 28, 2014

Hello friends! This is a pre-scheduled post as I'm camping this week. The forecast called for a fair bit of rain so I'm hoping that's not the case!

This week, our challenge at My Craft Spot is "Just for Little Girls". When thinking about what to create, I knew I wanted pink and either a dancer or a fairy and finally decided on this fun ballerina poodle from Twinkle Toes. I used Cricut Design Space, Snipping Tool and Silhouette Designer Edition in order to cut the image with my Cameo. I did the same thing with the Elegant Edges frame behind my poodle's head. I embossed portions of my card with a folder from Stampin' Up.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Tiny Tags 3 and I stamped it on a banner tag cut from Ribbon Banners - Straight metal dies. I blinged up my poodle with a pink "diamond" necklace and some little ear bows tied with baker's twine

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the projects created by my incredibly talented design team sisters and to link up your own "Just for Little Girls" creation. I'll be back later this week with some more pre-scheduled posts that include a fun announcement you won't want to miss!

You Amaze Me Card

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Good morning! Today I am sharing a quick and easy card over at My Craft Spot and I'm sharing it here too.

Recently, My Scrap Chick had a fun little maze card freebie. In fact, when I checked this morning, the file was still free! I made some adjustments to the card to make it my own and love the way it turned out!

I used some metal dies from the Scrapping Life Cards set for the funky arrows and heart. (I did trim the arrows a little bit.) Next, I cut out the letters for "you" and "me" using the Small Alphabet metal dies set. That's it! When I gave the card to my husband, he looked at it and said, "You puzzle me?" I shook my head, smiled, and replied, "Yes, you really do puzzle me." Oh well, I tried!! (Seriously, though, he does appreciate the card and it was fun to get a good laugh out of it too!! And I did remind him that I think he's amazing.)

Here are the die sets I used to create my card. They are available for purchase at the My Craft Spot Shop!

Soldier Box

Monday, July 14, 2014

My goodness! Life has been a whirlwind! We're still getting settled into our new home and fully enjoying the process. That said, we were invited to spend the weekend with friends at their cottage and jumped at the chance - not only to get away, but to spend time with good friends too! We had such a lovely time and have returned home refreshed and ready to face a new week.

This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is "Anything but a card". I decided to make a box! Originally, I was going to make an ornate box but saw this adorable little soldier boy at the Silhouette Store and was completely smitten!

After assembling the box, I stamped the flag before attaching it. I used the ENJOY stamp from the Postage Stamps stamp set.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has created - and to link up your own project for a chance to win this week's prize! Have a fantastic day!

Happy Canada Day!

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

And happy 147th birthday, Canada!! We've got a fun day planned today - despite the weather forecast! (Rain, rain, stay away!) We will be going to the Keene (Ontario) Canada Day parade this morning and then attending an early lunch hosted by the town in the fire station. In the afternoon, we'll head to the pioneer village to learn more about our nation's beginnings through their living history demonstrations and wrap things up with a barbecue and swim with my sister and her family. Plus, we'll do all this wearing red and white to show our national pride!

For those of you who don't know, the beaver is one of our national emblems so I decided to make a quick shape card using this fun beaver image from Scrappin by Kris. Before assembling him, I debossed the tail (using a chicken wire folder)! I then used My Craft Spot's Small Alphabet metal dies to spell out CANADA, adding a few white gel pen dots too. This was such a quick card to put together but perfect for Canada Day!

This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is "Patriotic". Wherever you are from, enter your patriotic project for a chance to win this week's prize!
