Long-Distance Hug

Jan is hosting at Little Red Wagon this week and she is looking for “One Thing”. Essentially, choose an element and use just one of it! Or maybe your project  has only one element. Or a scrapbook page devoted to one item. So many possibilities!

Typically, when I decide to use an embellishment on a card, I include more than one. However, this time my card contains only one element - a little wooden heart received years ago from My Favorite Things. I also embossed one frame using a little folder that I have had for probably 15+  years and I am not really sure if I have ever even used it before. I am finding that I am discovering all sorts of treasures as I unpack following our move.

Silent Night

Chrissy is hosting a Little Red Wagon this week and she is challenging us to create four “Christmas in July“.

I made this card with a generic die. I am embossed the navy cardstock with a snowflake folder and then added some stars with a gold pen. I also heat embossed the sentiment (Sweet n Sassy) with gold powder.

Hello Card

Our wonderful Imke is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and she's continuing her way through the alphabet for inspiration. This week, she's at P and is saying that "P is for Pink". She'd like to see pink on our projects. 

I used some leftover pink patterned paper along with some generic dies for the circle and flowers to create my card. The lattice border was cut with a Fiskars punch and the corners were also cut with a punch. The "hello" was cut with a Reverse Confetti die.

I Will Always Love You

I'm hosting at Little Red Wagon again this week, continuing this year's inspiration from Billy Joel. This week, it's Piano Man and I'm asking crafters to create something inspired by music. 

I was inspired by Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. I used a number of older supplies for my card - several punches (Fiskars, Stampin' Up and Martha Stewart), paper and vellum that haven't seen the light of day for ages, and a NBUS stamp from My Favorite Things. The sentiment is heat embossed.

Thank You

Out wonderful Janice is hosting this week’s Little Red Wagon Challenge and she’s looking for “Feather, Fur and Fin” - birds, animals or fish! Of interest, Feather, Fur and Fin was a song released by Canadian musician Danny Michel back in 2008. Janice is using Canadian songs to inspire her challenge themes this year.

I have another card to share that was actually created a number of years ago but never posted. I made it at a Stampin’ Up crafting night and all products used are Stampin’ Up. Now that I am back from holidays and moved into my new place, I’m hoping to be able to do some crafting again. I still need to unpack my crafting supplies though!

Dogs Leave Paw Prints

I created a sympathy card acknowledging the loss of a dog. The stamp and image are from Reverse Confetti (no longer in business) and the heart die and mat dies used are generic ones.

Noel

Imke has reached the letter O as she continues working her way through the alphabet for our Little Red Wagon challenges. She'd like to see projects that are O for Outdoors.

I had started this card years ago at a Stampin' Up party and decided to finish things off - finally! I added the Noel (generic die) and a little red collar around the deer.

Uptown Girl

I'm hosting over at Little Red Wagon this week and I'm still using Billy Joel hits to inspire me. This week, It's Uptown Girl - anything feminine, glamourous, chic, etc. 

I used AI to take a photo of my daughter (the original photo has her standing in the ocean!) and send her shopping! The little street sign reads "Uptown Girl". I used some ribbon, pearls, inks and washi to add various details. I printed a few copies and cut a heart from one, linking it up and popping it in the background before adding a flower to finish things off.

Happy Fishy Wishes

Brenda is hosting our newest challenge at Little Red Wagon and she's looking for us to create our own backgrounds.

I used a MFT waves stencil and went over it multiple times in two different blues for my underwater background. I also added some brown to the bottom for the sea floor. The little fish and turtle, as well as the sentiment, are from Your Next Stamp. I'm not sure that a turtle goes so far deep but he's one of my favourite stamps so I couldn't exclude him! I repurposed a phone wristlet box for the shaker filled with shells.

Unforgettable Friend (card/tag)

Our wonderful Janice is hosting at Little Red Wagon and she's singing, "Friend of Mine". Now, this year, Janice is using Canadian hits to inspire her challenge choices. I usually know exactly what song she's referring to but this time, I was stumped. I headed to ChatGPT and was informed that Janice is likely referring to the 1997 song "Friend of Mine" by Treble Charger. I'll have to visit her blog to be sure once the challenge goes live. 

Well, heading to the vaults, this card/tag combination is one I created years ago at a Stampin' Up card-making evening. I've never posted it before and thought it would do the trick for this challenge - especially as I wrapped up work on Friday, headed to volunteer with John at the community meal at our church and then we took off for a week of camping. We'll get home on Thursday afternoon, only to leave again on Monday for a three-week visit to Europe. We get back June 15 and close on our new house on June 18. I think I've been a bit over ambitious with all our plans!! I'm happier than I ever thought I could be though. 😍

Anyway, all products are Stampin' Up. That much I remember!

May Flowers Planner Layout

I put together a floral-themed layout for my Happy Planner. I wish I had some daffodil stamps for my planner as they are my favourite flower. They're in full bloom in my gardens now!

Welcome Little One

Imke is hosting at Little Red Wagon this week. Working her way through the alphabet, she's now at N. She's decided that N is for Newborn!

I have a baby boy card in my stash so decided to make something for a baby girl. I pulled out a number of products that have been ignored for ages! The giraffe is from My Favorite Things' Wild About You set and the sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Bundle of Joy stamp set. The little heart border was created with a Stampin' Up punch and the "cross" frames used for the image and small mat are also from My Favorite Things. I embossed the small mat with a tiny hearts Cuttlebug embossing folder. I finished things off with some corners cut with an EK Success punch. I remember the days when I used to add corners to so many of my creations. It was fun to use some forgotten tools and supplies!

Missing You

I'm happy to be hosting over at Little Red Wagon this week. I'm still working my way through Billy Joel songs this year and this time, I'm using New York State of Mind for inspiration. I'm looking for any projects with urban scenes or skylines - or even any sort of travel-related projects. 

I made this card using a variety of products from My Favorite Things. The sentiment is from Studio Katia and the little hearts are from a punch I purchased at Michaels years ago. Everything else is MFT. 

My summer is going to be a mix of travelling to big cities (Barcelona, Lisbon and London) and camping. I am blessed to have summers off as part of my job. John is retired so we are spoiled in having lots of holiday time together! We're looking forward to all the adventures we have planned.

Thanks (Reuse/Upcycle)

Happy Earth Day! And happy birthday to my younger brother as well!

The talented Brenda is hosting our challenge at Little Red Wagon this week and she's chosen "Happy Earth Day!" as her inspiration. She's looking for projects with reused or upcycled goods. 

I recently received a package from L'Occitane en Provence (love their stuff!). My products came wrapped in some interestingly-cut kraft paper. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for this challenge. I added it behind a scalloped frame from Pretty Pink Posh and used a generic die for flowers and a Your Next Stamp die for the "thanks" sentiment.

Happy Planner Music Layout

Our fabulous Janice is hosting at Little Red Wagon and she's chosen another great Canadian hit to inspire us. This week, it's Big Wreck's That Song. The song is essentially about the power of music. Janice is looking for music to inspire us this week, in whatever manner that might be. You can use a particular song or just music in general.

I decided to create a Happy Planner layout with some music-themed stickers I purchased from Etsy. I love music and am typically singing along to something. At home, I've been known to behave as though I'm in a musical by providing live commentary of my goings-on through song. Unfortunately, my vocal cords were damaged during an intubation years ago so I don't sing as well as I used to. I still have lots of fun though! 

Speaking of musicals, John and I are heading to Toronto this afternoon to catch this evening's performance of & Juliet. I hear it's really good!

Happy Easter

For those of you who celebrate, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! Easter is my favourite holiday. I love spring flowers, bunnies and chocolate. I find it far more relaxing than Christmas too. 

Chrissy is hosting our challenge at Little Red Wagon and she's looking for Easter-themed projects. 

I put together little bags of Easter treats for the family and used them to decorate the tables. The tags are quite simple. I created the digital paper with ChatGPT and then copied it over to Canva for a few little tweaks. Printed, cut, added holes and then tied on to the treat bags.

What on Earth?

Our lovely Imke is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge. For the second year in a row, she's working her way through the alphabet. We're at M now! M is for masculine.

I put this card together using some of my older supplies, including stamps that came in a Hero Arts stamp set that I won years ago. I also pulled out my Fiskars paper crimper which hasn't seen the light of day in I don't know how long!

I'm Just a Call Away

It's my turn to host over at Little Red Wagon again. I'm working through Billy Joel hits for inspiration and this week, the song is "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me". I'm asking crafters to create something vintage or retro. 

Even though this is my challenge, I drew a bit of a blank and used Canva to design my creation. It wasn't until I was adding my watermark to the photo that I realized the numbers on the rotary dial are a bit off. Oh well... I'm not actually sure what I'll do with this card. I hate speaking on the phone!

Hello (Signs of Spring)

It’s the incredible Brenda’s turn to host at Little  Red Wagon this week and she is looking for signs of spring.

Nothing says spring to me like daffodils! They are my favourite flower and I look forward to them poking up in my garden each spring. Our ground is still covered in white here. Although we did have a fair bit of melting last week, We had quite a dumping of snow on Monday. I used the variety of older products to put my card together.

If Things Improve with Age

It's the fabulous Janice's turn to host our latest Little Red Wagon challenge and I think she must have been humming along with Tom Cochrane as she's chosen "Boy Inside the Man" for this week's theme. Essentially, create something with or for a boy or man.

I pulled out the Old Friends stamp set from My Favorite Things for the image and sentiment. I used a generic die set for the wonky frames and a number embossing folder. There's a curly border cut using a My Craft Spot die too. Other than having an argument with my glue bottle (I eventually won after bringing in some pins, needles and scissors recruits), the card went together fairly simply.

Cat Happy Planner Layout

Chrissy is hosting at Little Red Wagon this week and she wants us to include an animal on our projects.

I love cats and have three who share my home and my heart: Skimbleshanks, Watson and Nile. I have a number of cat-themed items in my home and office, including an entire pack of Happy Planner cat stickers for my planner. I decided to put some of those stickers to use for this week's challenge.

I used all scraps for my card. The card base wasn't really scraps but it was the other half of a piece of cardstock used for another card base.

Happy Purr-thday

Happy Wednesday from a very snowy part of the world. We've had warmer temperatures the past few days with some melting of our mounds of snow. However, we're in for another dumping today. 

I'm hosting at Little Red Wagon with another Billy Joel inspired challenge. This time, I've chosen "Just the Way You Are" and I'm asking crafters to create something that celebrates another. Think birthdays, retirements, love and graduations. There are so many opportunities to celebrate others!

I needed a birthday card so that's what I created. I used products from a variety of companies. Most of my card is stenciled although I did stamp the cat and sentiment and hand drew the balloon string.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Jan is hosting at Little Red Wagon and she’s picturing love. Create anything that has to do with love and you’re good to go! With it being February, there’s love all around and lots of places to look for inspiration.

I used a pack of washi tape to create my card. The darker strip is actually metallic red even though it does not look like that in the photo.  The sentiment is a stamp from My Craft Spot (no longer in business) and I used a Martha Stewart punch for the three hearts which I popped on top. Voilà!

Let's Do Coffee

This week, the talented Chrissy is hosting over at Little Red Wagon. She's chosen the theme "anything neutral in colour". Whether you make a card, tag, ATC, bookmark or anything else with paper, use neutral colours.

I used dark and light greys with white to create my zebra card. The little zebra is from a My Favorite Things stamp set and the sentiment is from a set I received years ago with no packaging. The little wreath is a generic die. I embossed the mat and added a little scalloped die cut with heart to finish things off.

Happy Easter

The wonderful Imke is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge. Last year, Imke started working her way through the alphabet for her challenge themes and she's continuing to do so this year. This week, it's "K is for Keep It Simple". Personally, I think "K is for Kate" would have been an awesome theme but alas, it's not to be. 

Seriously though, Keep It Simple turned out to be a blessing as the past few weeks have been incredibly busy. Keeping things simple meant I could still spend time in my craft room for just a bit without ignoring other things. 

I decided to do some ink blending using an old Simon Says Stamp egg stencil. The sentiment is one from Reverse Confetti (no longer in business).

Be a Dreamer and a Doer

It's my first time hosting a Little Red Wagon challenge in 2026! This year, I'm being inspired by the works of Billy Joel as I make up challenges for our paper-crafting projects. I've chosen "River of Dreams" for this week and I'm looking for anything to do with dreams, nighttime, etc.

I use Happy Planners both at work and at home. I'd be lost without my planners! I use a calendar and reminder app on my phone as well, and a digital calendar for my work appointments, but love using paper planners to keep myself as organized as I can be. For our "River of Dreams" challenge this week, I did a Happy Planner layout using a few different stickers on the theme of dreaming. By the time you're reading this, there will be writing all over the layout!!

Enjoy Your New Home

Happy New Year and welcome to the first Little Red Wagon challenge of 2026. Brenda is starting this off with a "Happy New..." (choose your own ending) challenge. Whether you decide to go with the new year, a new baby, new car, new job, etc., you're good to join us!

As my mum recently moved into a new home, I made this card for her. The image is from a free online Crayola colouring page. I did some editing in Canva to remove the clouds and added my own sentiment. I used a generic wonky die set for the mats and a die from My Craft Spot (out of business) for the little spiral. I finished things off by punching out three little hearts.
