His birds are like his kids and he takes such good care of them. I saved one of Sky's little feathers and created this very simple card which I tucked in a glass frame. I printed off the text, cut the card to size, cut a heart using a punch and then attached the little feather on the heart. My son placed the frame on his desk. </div><div><br /></div><div>There is a verse in the Bible about God caring for the sparrow which is why the card starts with a sparrow and then adds for the budgie too. I trust that God doesn't mind me changing things up a bit with holy scripture. </div><div><br /></div><div>Truth be told, when I first made the little card-in-frame for him, Jack returned it to me and told me that he wasn't sure whether or not to say anything but decided he would. I'd put the year as 2022!! I have no idea what was going on in my brain that I entered the text, centred it, made sure I liked the positioning of everything, printed it, looked it over, cut to size and then added to the frame AND took a photo, all the while never realizing I was off by a couple of years. Anyway, I'm back to the present now!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> to see the CAS creations made by the rest of the Girlfriends. I've not used this set before but had it in mind when I chose this challenge. One of the planets was hand created with a circle die and then a hat from another Lawn Fawn set, Year Four (Hippo Birdie). The background was made with a variety of distress inks and then cut from a no-brand die. It's popped on the card although difficult/impossible to tell in the photo. </div><div><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> for some more smiles, chuckles and laughs! I usually find that January and February drag but time has been flying. <span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="font-size: 15px;"></span><div><br /></div><div>It's my first time hosting at <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> for 2024. This year, I'm using Def Leppard as inspiration for my challenges and this week, it's "Pour Some Sugar on Me", one of my favourites that always takes me back to my uni days. I recently learned that Def Leppard will be playing with Journey in Toronto this summer - but I'll be across the ocean at the time. At least I have my Def Leppard-themed <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> challenges!<br /></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6drjEVfC5iDt1duFhZ2M7p5yAqQZ-uLTzSacflWr5VzKAW9DWBnfi4D6noHZOlp3MnFdFcpGRKcZSotcuusK-cNNR1pRsum_rhIUy8d3Uh6_AExFQ3g8v-g3owNi87iZPOkr_jzgs_d1fdKjuGlrVm-8wUwsufJNBXaBClsBau4G-RRvQzS3bCeMrVOg/s997/Something%20Special%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="997" data-original-width="894" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6drjEVfC5iDt1duFhZ2M7p5yAqQZ-uLTzSacflWr5VzKAW9DWBnfi4D6noHZOlp3MnFdFcpGRKcZSotcuusK-cNNR1pRsum_rhIUy8d3Uh6_AExFQ3g8v-g3owNi87iZPOkr_jzgs_d1fdKjuGlrVm-8wUwsufJNBXaBClsBau4G-RRvQzS3bCeMrVOg/s320/Something%20Special%20-%20SBoP.png" width="287" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>For this challenge, I'm looking for anything sweet - whether that's sweet like candy or something that you would just think, "Well, isn't that sweet" such as a cute animal or tiny little something. I made treat bags to hold some Valentine's Day sweets. The bag die is from an online discount store. I didn't have much luck with another set I purchased there but this one is fabulous! The bows, doilies, hearts and sentiments are all created with supplies from My Craft Spot. </div><div><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> to see how the rest of the Girlfriends interpreted the challenge. This means that Janice is looking for projects with the sentiment as the main focus (or a large sentiment).<div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXfydNAfUMkGVmaExW6FOoCCgZBASpzpFXpF6wbpjaroEWu_Y1oA_lgEmiUlmSNSL1nfy3VPv5IUard2vQq2REyLc2-5S89WwQkZMlnZUolZUl7OPvIrr8GDHWcCsLgKOdTTDAx09fRc7QrGlruOGinfaeiOwCNqS2nwM7WsQdeHf-06_Y4irHk-BDkOU/s2820/Thanks%20-%20SBoP%20(1).png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2820" data-original-width="2537" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXfydNAfUMkGVmaExW6FOoCCgZBASpzpFXpF6wbpjaroEWu_Y1oA_lgEmiUlmSNSL1nfy3VPv5IUard2vQq2REyLc2-5S89WwQkZMlnZUolZUl7OPvIrr8GDHWcCsLgKOdTTDAx09fRc7QrGlruOGinfaeiOwCNqS2nwM7WsQdeHf-06_Y4irHk-BDkOU/s320/Thanks%20-%20SBoP%20(1).png" width="288" /></a></div><div><div><br /></div><div>I pulled out a My Favorite Things die that I used on my project two weeks ago. I also used a largish stencil which I placed in the middle of an 8.5x11 piece of watercolour cardstock and then cut the cardstock in four. This gave me four panels on which to place four "thanks" cuts in order to make four thank you cards. I think I should have used my heat gun to dry the panels a bit more before layering the sentiments. Some strategically placed black gumdrops helped with that!</div><div><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> to see the projects created by the rest of the Girlfriends - and then pull out your large sentiments in order to join the fun!</div><div><br /></div></div>Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14878842326866837064noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3318924324570314974.post-73273570709872505542024-01-10T06:00:00.001-05:002024-01-10T06:00:00.240-05:00For My Sweet FriendHello from a very snowy Ontario, Canada! Chrissy is our fabulous hostess at <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> and, most fittingly for me, she's chosen the theme "Still Snowing - Show Some Snow" for this week's challenge. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTCSJrPIxP1Z3-SNV8ElRpvQ8NUFelNkozI4HIovd_gQLlL4qZPhEvL0X-MQojJaYqR2h_9OwbEGThSI7AcHGmmu4JhAgKnoKGOF9r5wvhiffQwHLvQx7___91qDTj4yGvF62mhn7TKp06WE-noVkJUmXJ1byXtUiWRBX_izRB46wmmQEzis4TRZLJTAc/s1543/For%20my%20sweet%20friend%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1259" data-original-width="1543" height="261" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTCSJrPIxP1Z3-SNV8ElRpvQ8NUFelNkozI4HIovd_gQLlL4qZPhEvL0X-MQojJaYqR2h_9OwbEGThSI7AcHGmmu4JhAgKnoKGOF9r5wvhiffQwHLvQx7___91qDTj4yGvF62mhn7TKp06WE-noVkJUmXJ1byXtUiWRBX_izRB46wmmQEzis4TRZLJTAc/s320/For%20my%20sweet%20friend%20-%20SBoP.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div><div>Before Christmas, I saw a beautiful pillow box created by a fellow crafter. I used to make pillow boxes years ago and had, quite honestly, forgotten all about them. I decided to look for a die and found one on a discount site. I ordered the die and five others for about the same price I would typically pay for a single die. Needless to say, after eight cuts, I finally got two boxes that I am happy with. The issue was that the folds also cut so there were gaping holes instead of creases. I tried thicker cardstock, thinner cardstock, paper, spritzing the cardstock with a bit of water and, finally, using Scotch tape along all folds on the inside of the pillow box. That worked! The boxes are embossed with a snowflake folder and have been created especially for sharing hot chocolate - perfect for cold, snowy days! I also used supplies from My Craft Spot to adorn my little boxes. </div><div><br /></div><div>We'll see how things go with my other discount dies!!</div><div><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> to see all the snowy projects there! I hope you've all had a lovely holiday and break. I've had two weeks off, with today being my final day of holidays. It's been so nice to have the time to relax - although there really wasn't much relaxing the first week! It was enjoyable but in an incredibly busy sort of way. <span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="font-size: 15px;"></span><div><br /></div><div>Imke is hosting our first <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> challenge of 2024 and she's chosen the theme "What's New?" There can be many ways to interpret this - such as the new year, a new beginning, new crafting supplies, etc. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkLGRwceIvuNcNgcre3zszVquKBCk4vfin1kboV4zIKBV_tzV13swejx14TybRzCp9Uo16-EMjg4swo9dZShi1n5awXbFzwdqF8JJjGRIOKcVcNgb_gGynK7z7-8eY_FhHEz49yYn10bQtfjKHrTOBeJkslyXOJCrE-6BVctQLMxqFgmrvVrX6CghDZM/s3000/Thanks%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2421" data-original-width="3000" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpkLGRwceIvuNcNgcre3zszVquKBCk4vfin1kboV4zIKBV_tzV13swejx14TybRzCp9Uo16-EMjg4swo9dZShi1n5awXbFzwdqF8JJjGRIOKcVcNgb_gGynK7z7-8eY_FhHEz49yYn10bQtfjKHrTOBeJkslyXOJCrE-6BVctQLMxqFgmrvVrX6CghDZM/s320/Thanks%20-%20SBoP.png" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm using new supplies (Santa gave me some little wooden floral embellishments) to create a thank you card for a new goat. I can hardly believe that we'll be turning the calendar to December in two days. This year has flown! With the exception of some baking (which I've already started) and a few small items, I'm done my shopping. Wrapping is another story altogether... A number of years ago, I switched to using reusable cloth Christmas bags for wrapping and that helps the process. <span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="font-size: 15px;"></span><div><br /></div><div>I'm hosting this week's <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> challenge and, continuing my Queen-inspired themes, I'm using Bohemian Rhapsody this time. Just like the song combines a number of styles, I'm looking for creations that combine a number of elements. The sky is the limit!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCY1gzDFz0SketQ41xyulDh9VBKLs0vTs8bH5iPdGvcmditUVO-0l_JrU6qT5_aQWLpedEFTxUkREEryLf1bAedNxZHxs1bQSfC61mdKAMhCx7FiTPYIbaf3zp-REc_9uuR5Y6C856kFELqS9B3ZUZ6vc0EgUDu5aTpZOdXEKExzLsRFxTG7c76-KDVk8/s1686/Happy%20Birthday%20Camel%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1686" data-original-width="1535" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCY1gzDFz0SketQ41xyulDh9VBKLs0vTs8bH5iPdGvcmditUVO-0l_JrU6qT5_aQWLpedEFTxUkREEryLf1bAedNxZHxs1bQSfC61mdKAMhCx7FiTPYIbaf3zp-REc_9uuR5Y6C856kFELqS9B3ZUZ6vc0EgUDu5aTpZOdXEKExzLsRFxTG7c76-KDVk8/s320/Happy%20Birthday%20Camel%20-%20SBoP.png" width="291" /></a></div><br /><div>As some of you know, I gave my sister the nickname of Kami years ago - which is a twist on camel. We were holidaying in Egypt and I kept handing Jo (Kami!!) my things so I could take photos. At one point, she was laden down with a number of my things and asked me if I thought that she was my camel. Hence, the name Kami which is still used to this day. Anyway, I always look for camel-themed items for birthdays and Christmas. Cards are easier given that I am a cardmaker! </div><div><br /></div><div>I've combined a number of different elements and techniques here - rounded corners, stamping, colouring, paper piecing (those little party hats - one for the camel's head and one for her hump!), die cutting, shadowing/layering, crimping, embossing, pop dot dimensionals and sequins. I had fun making this card as it reminds me a bit of some of my earlier creations back from when I first started making cards. </div><div><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="https://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> to see all the elements used my the Design Team - and then have fun as you make your own "Bohemian Rhapsody" creation! </div>Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14878842326866837064noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3318924324570314974.post-10891800919851520022023-11-22T06:00:00.005-05:002023-11-22T06:00:00.137-05:00Sprinkled with HappinessHappy Wednesday! I really like how the sky turned out. I blended two different blues (Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky), splashed a little water and then sprayed some glitter fabric spray. At first, I thought, "Oh dear..." but then I got a tissue and smeared it around and LOVED the look. I decided to use my white gel pen for some extra stars and was even happier. I wish the photo showed it off a bit better. Brenda lives in Hawaii which, while absolutely beautiful, does not really have the array of fall colours that some other climates enjoy. You can decide to create something that is either square or rectangular - or add a square or rectangular element to your creation. <div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLEV0DXNxnqdFTaeKM83OoBFm6EXM3lUeMB48CTggF1VLr_3RAS8Ofq4AvK44FvTXiXqsUpiRefthNDPVAVPzN6RwFZIMmfL5ksjvbGdSsxdCB7ObEFB4JCfwmWXb-2nKhnj4Aarb15Hc4QLdAw76eTU8pD98f6-5OGDaMk2rUbwt0Ew7t0Nj_M4cabhg/s1712/With%20Sympathy%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1712" data-original-width="1375" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLEV0DXNxnqdFTaeKM83OoBFm6EXM3lUeMB48CTggF1VLr_3RAS8Ofq4AvK44FvTXiXqsUpiRefthNDPVAVPzN6RwFZIMmfL5ksjvbGdSsxdCB7ObEFB4JCfwmWXb-2nKhnj4Aarb15Hc4QLdAw76eTU8pD98f6-5OGDaMk2rUbwt0Ew7t0Nj_M4cabhg/s320/With%20Sympathy%20-%20SBoP.png" width="257" /></a></div><div><div><br /></div><div>I decided to go square ('cause it's hip to be square). My card is 4.5" x 4.5". However, as I needed three cards and wanted them to be similar but not identical - and because two had to be posted overseas and square cards sometimes need more postage (although I'm not sure why or when, I just know it's happened to me before), I opted to go with rectangle for the other two. </div></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfmc7Hq5kvc7DtuDqRzP5R8cLN7UTHPSLnN1_tZ9Z0ZD0O3m0laMATw0lrJ8ke-eCXgzTqbiD1yUWDay7HbaJifL29zwbXicTuh4TZ-cEQsgqwKV0W3MXoxfnE81zUforpkdtC2oHt242VFV-Oyf2fk62_jaScxDcc6BC5ph22zXqmirtOKcFXX_nHhUs/s2611/With%20Sympathy%203%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2611" data-original-width="1845" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfmc7Hq5kvc7DtuDqRzP5R8cLN7UTHPSLnN1_tZ9Z0ZD0O3m0laMATw0lrJ8ke-eCXgzTqbiD1yUWDay7HbaJifL29zwbXicTuh4TZ-cEQsgqwKV0W3MXoxfnE81zUforpkdtC2oHt242VFV-Oyf2fk62_jaScxDcc6BC5ph22zXqmirtOKcFXX_nHhUs/s320/With%20Sympathy%203%20-%20SBoP.png" width="226" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsylIS8wygqEN15yUQQ_g8jhmk7MjSefHF1ldpIK7eYd69ZtTJ2uDnbZ22aM4nKxQVTlZjSbipfc2BtgBIVPz9u0Bj_HQ6N_NGyTekx2y0202VZRvFJZ005cElMZcLFSEFYy1GROUuuhqELerJsJbSm7mphvKqTc4ZAPwyJXKoDl0chs9Y_D-5b7EK4tM/s2328/With%20Sympathy%202%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2328" data-original-width="1668" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsylIS8wygqEN15yUQQ_g8jhmk7MjSefHF1ldpIK7eYd69ZtTJ2uDnbZ22aM4nKxQVTlZjSbipfc2BtgBIVPz9u0Bj_HQ6N_NGyTekx2y0202VZRvFJZ005cElMZcLFSEFYy1GROUuuhqELerJsJbSm7mphvKqTc4ZAPwyJXKoDl0chs9Y_D-5b7EK4tM/s320/With%20Sympathy%202%20-%20SBoP.png" width="229" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAPiJoIJPgjKfHqERqpKE7oxflC_6cUNB8gpWbmN_uSuSq_QjAYx0l5n8gINDNX7pRERKHYGEPmW9qRVZnjn5ejNWPZGrwrNkkmEwkse-DgzC8-Y9gT2rfU3-utLqvyF1ninK8SdiyMI9BD_wCqndWddzuv0rk5SjBszFc5Muae9vY4zV_XiARIQ8Ut7g/s2328/With%20Sympathy%202%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAPiJoIJPgjKfHqERqpKE7oxflC_6cUNB8gpWbmN_uSuSq_QjAYx0l5n8gINDNX7pRERKHYGEPmW9qRVZnjn5ejNWPZGrwrNkkmEwkse-DgzC8-Y9gT2rfU3-utLqvyF1ninK8SdiyMI9BD_wCqndWddzuv0rk5SjBszFc5Muae9vY4zV_XiARIQ8Ut7g/s2328/With%20Sympathy%202%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinafdsMDHeIIxjNa-a69r6k6nKodGcNwvtN0Bl_Vnq9xlg72VJgsb86sqUaDlZORS6bkXmEAVI4qWp4VTwNMBV6n1PslJq_4swwlJhHRwHZuGeGZeogpigA2BUE4CXDi9ZQHSlfqEbrAmx3v9WoD0UHU6IJnPDgsUNvfMtjk-xh5-zAquL5jSZZovenWQ/s2359/With%20Sympathy%204%20-%20SBoP.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2359" data-original-width="1942" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinafdsMDHeIIxjNa-a69r6k6nKodGcNwvtN0Bl_Vnq9xlg72VJgsb86sqUaDlZORS6bkXmEAVI4qWp4VTwNMBV6n1PslJq_4swwlJhHRwHZuGeGZeogpigA2BUE4CXDi9ZQHSlfqEbrAmx3v9WoD0UHU6IJnPDgsUNvfMtjk-xh5-zAquL5jSZZovenWQ/s320/With%20Sympathy%204%20-%20SBoP.png" width="263" /></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>Please head over to <b><a href="http://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #a64d79;">Little Red Wagon</span></a></b> to see the rest of the squares and rectangles.
