Non-Traditional Christmas Colours

Wednesday, November 27, 2024
It's Janice's turn to host our Little Red Wagon challenge this week and she's looking for "non-traditional winter holiday" projects. Non-traditional could refer to themes, images, colours, styles, etc.

I created a card using purple and green papers instead of the traditional red and green typically associated with Christmas. Unfortunately, the sentiment on the tree did not photograph well. Although there isn't a great deal of contrast in person, it's more easily read than here. I could either get the letters to show better and be blinded by the glare of the glittery purple or save our sight and not have the lettering be as defined. In the interest of protecting our vision in order to later view the rest of the Design Team projects, I went with the latter option. The tree reads, "We wish you a merry Christmas".

Now it's time to head over to Little Red Wagon to check out the rest of the non-traditional winter holiday projects and then link up one (or more!) of your own.

Merry Christmas

Wednesday, November 20, 2024
Hello from the sunny and warm Bahamas! I'm currently on a four-night cruise and it's a lovely treat to get away just as the weather is turning colder in my part of Canada.

The very-creative Chrissy is hosting our latest Little Red Wagon challenge and she's looking for monochromatic creations. Stick to one colour (although you can use varying shade of that same colour).

As I created a Christmas card, I went with green! The stamps are ones I purchased in a set absolutely ages ago from Stampin' Up. I added some gemstones to finish things off and also used a snowy embossing folder for the green mat.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the monochromatic creations. We'd love for you to join in our challenge as well!

Toque-Wearing Ducks from the Great White North

Wednesday, November 13, 2024
The wonderful Imke is hosting this week's challenge at Little Red Wagon and she's chosen the theme "Wintertime". Essentially, anything related to winter is a go!

I'm heading off on a short cruise next week. A recent trend has been to hide rubber duckies around the ship (but nowhere near balconies!) for others to find. I put together a group of ducks and here are just a handful of them to show off. The ducks are wearing little toques - something worn by most Canadians during our cold winter months - and sunglasses. I attached a little Canada pin on each of the toques. The little ducks came in sets of 12 - with the sunglasses and toques ready to put on the ducks. I didn't have to knit!

Here's a close up of the tags:

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Girlfriends' Wintertime projects. We'd love for you to join the fun as well!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Wednesday, November 6, 2024
Happy November! Yesterday, I was wearing a skort, short-sleeved blouse and slides because it was 21C here in central Ontario (Canada) - unseasonably warm! I have to admit that, while I am incredibly concerned for our environment, I do enjoy the warmer temperatures. I feel a bit guilty about that.

I'm hosting this week's Little Red Wagon challenge and have another Def Leppard-inspired challenge. This time, it's "White Lightning" and I'm looking for anything related to weather in any way. Although a big fan of Def Leppard, White Lightning is not a particular favourite of mine (please don't tell Joe, Rick or any of the others should you run into them) but it made for a good challenge theme so here we are!

Despite our unseasonably warm temperatures, I added snow to the background of my Christmas card using a Cuttlebug folder that I've had for years. The wreath is a new (generic) die and I cut out three layers. I was going to use a "Let it snow!" sentiment but opted for the one by My Craft Spot instead. It fit better with respect to the size but also seems more appropriate to the card.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created - and then work on your own project to link up with us!
