Save the Earth Cricut Crawl - A Mother's Day Card

Monday, April 30, 2012
Welcome to the Fantabulous Cricut "Save the Earth" Cricut Crawl (FCCB's version of a blog hop)!  As we've just celebrated Earth Day, we are taking this opportunity to include a Reusable / Recycled item along with at least ONE Cricut Cut on our projects this week.I decided to do a double challenge and have created my card to also fit this week's Challenge at My Craft Spot: Mother's Day.

If you've just come from a visit with Karen at Simply Frenzied, you are in the right place!  Of course, if you've just happened across my blog, you are welcome to start at Fantabulous Cricut to hit all the blogs along the way.

For my project, I used Elegant Edges for the card base as well as the fancy label, inking everything with Tea Dye distress ink.  The patterned papers are from Cosmo Cricut's Ever After collection.  The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the little flowers were made with punches.

The beautiful sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Happy Easter stamp set.  I also included some little pearls and gorgeous Spring Breeze crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot.

Of course, I couldn't forget to include a recycled item, so I added an old dangle earring to finish things off.  Now, I just have to wait until Mother's Day to give this to the woman I most cherish and admire in this world!

BLOG CANDY

I'm SO excited that Kimberly from My Craft Spot has so very kindly donated a Butterfly Kisses stamp set for me to give away to one lucky hopper!!  All you need to do is be a follower of my blog and leave a comment on this post.  If you don't have a blog, please remember to leave a way for me to contact you should you be the winner.  You have until Sunday, May 6 to enter and I will announce the winner on Monday, May 7.

Now, it's time to head over to visit the incredibly talented Marlene at Scrappin' Cookie.  And when you're done the hop, don't forget to head to Fantabulous Cricut to link up your own "Save the Earth" project AND to My Craft Spot to link up your Mother's Day creation.  Happy Crafting!

On the Go with a Penny Slider Card

Monday, April 23, 2012
The challenges at My Craft Spot and Fantabulous Cricut both deal with "Things That Go!"  I made a motion card for my nephew's birthday.  As he does not turn 3 until September, I'm well ahead of the game!

I used Just Because Cards for the little truck.  I cut the main layer a few times in order to give the truck more stability.  I cut the road using Everyday Paper Dolls and added the middle cut using the same image resized with circles from George and Basic Shapes either end.  (I wanted a rounded look.)  I attached two pennies together using a PopDot and then adhered the pennies to the back of the truck.  Once that was done, I could "attach" the truck by putting the pennies either side of the slit in the road.  (Does that make any sense at all?!  If not, just Google "Penny Slider Card" and you'll come up with some more clear directions.)

I used a paper trimmer to cut the sky and ground.  The beige cardstock was run through my Cuttlebug to create a gravel look.  The sun is from Doodlecharms and stamped with a Peachy Keen face.  I cut the 3 using Mickey Font and added a Happy Birthday sentiment from My Craft Spot's Friends and Neighbors - Inside and Out set.  The sentiment was punched with a Stampin' Up window punch and adhered to a little mat cut by hand.  I did some stitching and doodling too!

The inside of my card was stamped with a sentiment from My Craft Spot's Birthday Wishes set.

My boys (and this includes my husband!) LOVE this card!  They were all trying it out and have put in requests for penny slider cards for their own birthdays!

Please head over to both My Craft Spot AND Fantabulous Cricut to link up your "things that go" creations.

*Many, many thanks to my sweet friend Amy Jo from Scrapping, Card Making and Living with Fibro for the fabulous Just Because Cards cartridge.  There are so many wonderful images and designs on the cartridge - and it came at just the right time to create for the On the Go challenges!  Thanks Amy Jo!

Happy Birthday Singing Bird

Monday, April 16, 2012
I love PopDots so was delighted when I learned that this week's challenge at My Craft Spot is "Make It Pop".  We are encouraging you to use dimensionals on your project.

I have a quick and simple project to showcase today.  I've got a bit of an overlap of responsibilities until the end of the month so have very little (if any!) crafting time.  Life is good though, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.  I'll actually be taking May and June off to finish up my thesis project and am looking forward to taking some "mental health" crafting and blogging breaks too!

The sweet little bird on my card is from Campin' Critters.   I did a little bit of faux stitching and doodling and added some fun googly eyes.  I also used PopDots to add some dimension to my card.  The grass was punched with an EK Success border punch.

I used a little sentiment and tag from the My Craft Spot Tiny Tags stamp set.  The faux stitching on the tag is a stamp from the set too!  (This set is FULL of fabulous sentiments for all sorts of occasions.  The small size makes them perfect for adding a fun extra detail on any project.)  I adhered the tiny tag to a funky blue pop tab and finished things off with some orange divine baker's twine from My Craft Spot

Please head over to My Craft Spot to check out the rest of the "Make It Pop" projects created by the design team - and don't forget to link up your own for your chance to win this week's prize!

With Deepest Sympathy

Monday, April 9, 2012
This week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is Buttons and Bows - and we are challenging you to include at least one button AND one bow on your project.  Unfortunately, the mother of a friend of mine recently passed away after a very short battle with cancer.  I made this card for Hettie and it was made with an enormous amount of love and prayers.

I used Easter 2010 for the cross and Flower Shoppe and punches for the flowers.  The cross is popped on the card.  I used a script Cuttlebug embossing folder for the mat.  The sentiment is computer generated and punched with a Stampin' Up window punch and shadow punch.  I used some lovely Sky Blue crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot and finished things off with a button and some pearls.

If you are like me, you've got quite a stash of buttons, ribbons and twine in your collection of crafting supplies.  Why not get them out and make something for this week's challenge at Fantabulous Cricut?!

Some Bunny Loves You Treat Bags

Monday, April 2, 2012
With Easter less than a week away, this week's challenge at My Craft Spot will inspire you to finish up all those last minute projects!  For our Easter Challenge, I decided to make some little treat bags for my favourite little people.  (That said, my 14 year old son is now taller than my daughter and me!!)

With the help of my Gypsy, I designed the little treat bags by welding various images from Easter 2010, Plantin SchoolBook and George and Basic Shapes.  The sweet little bunnies are from Paper Doll Dress Up and I used cuts from George and Basic Shapes for the noses and ears.  The fences are from Wall Décor and More (with the roosters cut off) and the grass is from Zooballoo.  Everything is inked.

I filled each bag with some kraft grass and punched out the "Some bunny loves you" sentiments (from My Craft Spot's NEW Happy Easter stamp set) with Stampin' Up punches, adhering them to souvlaki skewers which I cut to size.  I finished everything off with some buttons and Cotton Candy baker's twine from My Craft Spot.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the wonderful Easter projects created by other members of the design team - and then link up your own project for a chance to win this week's prize!
