Easter Card

Monday, April 7, 2014

We're getting ready for Easter at My Craft Spot and this week's challenge will give you a chance to work on your Easter projects too!

I decided to create a card for my project.  A number of weeks ago, KaDoodle Bug Designs was giving away a wonderful He is Risen cut file.  As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I also used a file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons for the centre panel step card base.  I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the cross and the tuft of grass before I assembled the little scene.  I stamped the cloud background with a Peachy Keen stamp.  For the grass, I cut two layers of dark green cardstock (to match the stems of the sweet little flowers) and used one of the My Craft Spot Fancy Edges metal dies along the top of each.  I also used a little stamp from Jar Full of Flowers on the grass too.

The sentiment I chose is actually from My Craft Spot's Joy Filled Christmas - but it's just perfect for Easter too!  I stamped a bit at a time on the white circle which was cut using the original Tiny Doilies set.  The orange layer behind it was cut using a die from Tiny Doilies 2.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has created - and to link up your own Easter project!  Easter is such a joyous time and I can't wait to see what you make!

It's Time for the My Craft Spot Blog Hop!!

Saturday, March 1, 2014

It's time for the My Craft Spot stamp release party blog hop!  All week, we've been showcasing projects created with the FIVE new stamp sets and THREE new sets of metal dies.  Today, we'll celebrate the full reveal with a blog hop - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!!  Be sure to start out at My Craft Spot.  You'll also be able to see ALL the new products available for purchase today!

For my project, I created a fun little gable box full of treats.  The box itself is from Daniela Cadamosti who has a number of fabulous free files.  You can check her out HERE.  After cutting my box, I stamped it with a Peachy Keen cloud stamp before assembling.

The sweet little pup is from Lettering Delights's eeieeio cut set.  I used one of the Fancy Edges metal dies for the grass border along the bottom of my box.  I used a NEW Tiny Doilies 2 metal die for the "sun" - and stamped it with a sentiment is from the NEW Simply Sentiments stamp set.  I have to say, when I first saw the new release, this sentiment was my favourite and I just couldn't wait to use it.  I use the word "ridiculously" all the time with my children (i.e., have a ridiculously fun day at school, take the dog for a ridiculously long walk, drink a ridiculously large amount of water, etc.).  And what could possibly be better than having a ridiculously amazing day?!

A box just isn't very exciting without a surprise inside, so I filled mine with some Hershey Kisses.  For the bottoms, I used a circle die from the Lacy Banners metal die set (it's the PERFECT size!) and stamped them with one of the fun NEW sentiments from Scrapping Life - Everyday stamp set.

I'm delighted that Kimberly has provided a NEW Scrapping Life - Calendar stamp set for me to give away on my blog.  All you need to do is leave a comment on this post.  I'll announce the winner Monday.

Your next stop is the incredibly talented Tanya of Nonna's Craft Corner.  Happy hopping!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day 5

Friday, January 10, 2014

Welcome to our final day of the My Craft Spot stamp release party! All week, we've been sharing projects created using some of the FIVE new stamp sets and FOUR new sets of metal dies.  The full reveal will be made tomorrow and the My Craft Spot shop will be open for business as ALL new products will be available for purchase.  How exciting!

Today, we're sharing our creations made with the NEW Big Sentiments stamp set.  This set is so fun!  As soon as I saw the stamps, I knew I wanted to use the Get Well Fast sentiment and finally decided on a card/tissue box.  The box itself is a free Kerri Bradford file which can be found HERE.  When I stumbled across the box, I thought it was just the sweetest idea for a little extra something to wish someone well - and could work with a sympathy message too.

I stamped my sentiment from the NEW Big Sentiments stamp set onto some white cardstock which I cut with a Tickets metal die.  I created the shadow behind it using my paper cutter and a Stampin' Up Ticket Corner punch.  The sweet little lamb is an SVG Cutting Files freebie which you can find HERE. I hid the contours of the face and used a Peachy Keen stamp instead.  I also used both the NEW Hearts Borders metal dies and Small Alphabet metal dies for the hearts on the front of the lamb.

For the inside of my box, I used a sentiment from the Feel Better Soon stamp set and finished things off with another little heart cut with the Small Alphabet metal dies.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the amazing projects created by the rest of the design team.  If you leave a comment there for Kimberly, you'll have a chance to win today's prize - a Feel Better Soon stamp set (just like I used for the inside of my card/tissue box)!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow!  Kimberly will be revealing all the NEW My Craft Spot products.  We'll be celebrating with a blog hop with prizes at EACH stop along the way!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day 3

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

It's Day Three of the My Craft Spot stamp release party!  Today, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Banner Sentiments stamp set and NEW Ribbon Banners - Wavy metal dies.

Today's card was created with a cute little bee file purchased from Silhouette (#26908).  I had lots of fun discovering some of the features available on my Silhouette and created the fun card base in the process!  Once the card base was created, I stamped the entire front with Peachy Keen's Cloudy Day background stamp and adhered my bee in the appropriate spot.

Everything else on my card was created with NEW My Craft Spot products!!  The fun sentiment is from the NEW Banner Sentiments stamp set and stamped on a NEW Ribbon Banners - Wavy metal die cut.  The fun grass was created using one of the NEW Fancy Edges metal dies and the heart in the top right corner is from the NEW Heart Borders metal dies.  I am simply having too much fun with all the NEW products from this release!!

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the projects created by the rest of the design team.  While you are there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: some fabulous sequins (Tickled Pink, Lemon Meringue, and Toadally Green).

Day One of the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party!

Monday, October 28, 2013
Welcome to Day 1 of the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party!  Each day this week, the design team will be sharing projects made with the FIVE new stamp sets and THREE new sets of metal dies.  On Saturday, Kimberly will make the full reveal - AND there will be a blog hop with prizes at EACH stop along the way!  I'm so excited!

For today's sneak peeks, we're showing off the NEW Christmas Banner stamp set and TWO NEW Ribbon Banner metal die sets (straight and arched).  When I first saw the metal dies, I gasped with excitement.  I LOVE them!!  In fact, I used them for a few projects this week!

I decided to use the new products to dress up a gift bag.   The little elf is from Jolly Holidays and I stamped his face with a Peachy Keen stamp.  It's hard to tell under all that boa trim I used for his hat!!  It might be a bit much, but I just couldn't resist...  For extra fun, I added Glossy Accents to his boots and buttons and a bit of sparkle to the string of lights he's holding.

The "Elf-made just for you" sentiment is from the NEW Christmas Banners stamp set and I stamped it across a banner created with one of the NEW Ribbon Banner - Arched metal dies.  I also used the NEW Christmas Banners stamp set for the "Merry Christmas!" sentiment.

I finished everything off with a bow and now I've got a fun bag for gift giving!

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the design team creations.  They're amazing!!  And don't forget to leave a comment over at My Craft Spot for your chance to win today's prize: a Jingle All The Way stamp set!

Basketball Birthday Boy

Friday, October 4, 2013
I'm so pleased to be sharing a project over at My Craft Spot today - and am posting it here on my blog as well. My youngest nephew recently turned four years old.  He absolutely loves basketball so when I saw the little character from the new Create a Friend cartridge, I knew it would be perfect for my nephew's card, especially as I found a little basketball set to give him too.

The Create a Friend character actually has a 1 on his shirt so I used my Gypsy to switch things to a 4, in order to match my nephew's age.  I used a Peachy Keen face for the little guy's face.  Both the blue and white mats were embossed with a QuicKutz polka-dot folder.

The Happy Birthday! sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Inside & Out - Set #2.  I used one of the dies from the My Craft Spot Tiny Banners and Toppers metal dies for the little pennants at the side.  I finished things off with some fun enamel dots from my wonderful friend Susie of Susie Craft Happy.  (Thanks again, Susie.  I am LOVING these enamel dots!)

Let's Get This Party Started! - Dancing Penguins

Tuesday, September 24, 2013
I'm sharing another project at My Craft Spot today and am happy to be sharing it here on my blog too!  My youngest guy LOVES penguins.  When he celebrated his birthday last month, I made a few different cards for him, including this one with penguins.

The penguins are from Zooballoo.  I stamped their faces with Peachy Keen stamps.  Don't they look so happy?  The penguins were attached to the background paper which I had stamped with a Peachy Keen cloud stamp.  Each penguin is on an Action Wobble for double the dancing fun!  The snowflake border was created with a Martha Stewart punch and some of the extra snowflakes were added to the card front - with little gems for extra celebratory glitter.

At the bottom of the card, I strung some Blueberry Blue baker's twine from My Craft Spot, threaded through a little blue button.  I finished things off with a cheerful sentiment from My Craft Spot's Birthday Wishes stamp set.  This set is perfect for all your birthday card creations!

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a fabulous day!

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Blog Hop!!

Saturday, September 7, 2013
Today is the day of the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party blog hop!!  If you have not already been to My Craft Spot, I suggest you start there to begin the hop and see the full reveal of all the NEW stamp sets and metal dies.  Be sure to leave a comment at each blog along the way to increase your chances of winning one of the NEW stamp sets or metal die sets.  How fun!!

My children all returned to school on Tuesday and I made this card for my youngest son who just started grade six. The little boy at his desk is a Create a Friend cut with a Peachy Keen face.

The sentiment next to him is a combination of "Have" from My Craft Spot's Cute Critters and "fun" from the NEW Jar Full of Fall stamp set.

I cut the label at the top of my card using one of the NEW Ornate Labels metal dies.  The apple is from the NEW Jar Full of Fall stamp set and was stamped with a fun face from the same set.  Using the Tiny Doilies metal dies, I cut the green circle (the die cuts the middle out too!) and stamped it with the alphabet, a stamp that is part of the My Craft Spot Stamping All Around Fall set.  I added a strip of red cardstock behind the label and finished things off with two green enamel dots which came in a rainbow pack I received from my super talented and incredibly kind crafting friend Susie of Susie Craft Happy.  Thanks again, Susie!!

As I noted above, Kimberly has very generously donated a NEW product for each of the designers to give away during this hop.  I'm thrilled to be giving away the NEW Jar Basics set to one hopper who leaves a comment on this post. Woo hoo!  Please leave a comment by midnight Sunday as I will be announcing the winner on Monday.

To continue the hop, please head over to visit the wonderfully creative Heather at Houses Built of Cards.  Also, here's a list of the entire blog hop line up so you don't miss anything!!

My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party - Day 1

Monday, September 2, 2013
Welcome to the My Craft Spot Fall Stamp Release Party!!  We've been working hard (and having heaps of fun) with the FIVE new stamp sets and TWO new sets of metal dies!!  This week, we'll showcase our projects each day, ending with a blog hop on Saturday - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!

Today, we are sharing projects made with the NEW Jar Basis stamp set and Jar Basics metal dies.  I dressed up a gift bag - perfect for giving away preserves. I used some patterned paper from my stash to create a mat and layered it with a fun jar and topper from the NEW Jar Basics metal dies.  Each piece was stamped using the NEW Jar Basics stamps.  Aren't these so fun?!  My preserves label was made with another stamp from the Jar Basics stamp set - and that fabulous little tag is from the NEW Jar Basics metal dies set too!  Inside my jar, I added a strawberry cut from Paisley and stamped with a Peachy Keen face.

Did you notice my little jar tag?  The little jar is from the same Jar Basics metal dies set.  (The lid fits both jars.)  And my sentiment is also from the NEW Jar Basics stamp set! I finished everything off with some Holly Green baker's twine.

Be sure to head over to My Craft Spot to see all the other fabulous creations made by the rest of the design team.  Don't forget to leave a comment there for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: a Spooky Treats stamp set!

Little Cards for Camp

Tuesday, July 9, 2013
I'm so pleased to be sharing today's project over at My Craft Spot today.  Last week, my youngest was off at camp and I had such fun creating these little cards for him so he could have a little bit of love from home each day!

Each of these cards was made using Create a Critter - for the card base and the critters themselves.  I used a Darice embossing folder for the clouds and a Fiskars punch for the grass.  The snow border and flakes on the penguin card were made with a Martha Stewart punch.  All sentiments are from My Craft Spot

I used Alphalicious to create envelopes for each of the 3x3 cards.  Each one has a stamp punched with the My Craft Spot Postage Stamps metal dies and stamped with a variety of stamps from the My Craft Spot Postage Stamps stamp set.  The border, images, flourishes, sentiments and cancellation stamps are all from this set. I had so much fun adding a little something extra to each of the envelopes!

For the horse card, I used a sentiment from the NEW Down on the Farm set.  (The sentiment is actually "HAY there neighbor" but I just used a portion of it for my card.)

For my sheep card, the "Love EWE" sentiment is from Cute Critters. I also added a bit of embossing to my little sheep.

The "Have a Beary happy day!" sentiment is from the NEW Tiny Tags 3 set.  These sentiments coordinate perfectly with the My Craft Spot Tiny Tags metal dies.

I realize that the penguin card is a bit different from the others in this set I've created, but my little guy LOVES penguins - so I couldn't resist!  I created the "You're cool!" sentiment by combining two stamps from Build a Valentine.

The fun sentiment on this squirrel card is from the NEW Tasty Treats set.  I also used some Cuttlebug embossing folders on the acorn and stamped the face with a Peachy Keen stamp.  I originally had another squirrel on this card but the face looked terrifying!!  A quick return to the Cricut to cut another squirrel and a Peachy Keen makeover seemed to do the trick!

Finally, the sentiment on this fun cow card is from the Cute Critters set. (My husband liked this one the best when I showed him the set.)

Thanks for popping by!  Have a wonderful day!

Card for the Crossing Guard

Tuesday, July 2, 2013
Welcome friends!  I'm delighted to be showcasing a project at My Craft Spot today.  As those of you who have been following my blog for a while know, each Christmas and end-of-year, I make a special card for my son's crossing guard.  School ended last week, and this is the card my little guy gave to our favourite crossing guard!

I had such fun making this one!  I used Just Because Cards for the popsicle cuts and Going Places for the STOP sign.  The little hat on my green popsicle is from Everyday Paper Dolls.  I used a letter "k" from the new My Craft Spot Small Alphabet metal dies for the cap, as my son's school name begins with K.  (I did cut off part of the letter to make the hat look a bit more realistic - at least as realistic as I could for a smiling popsicle wearing a ball cap!!) I used the same metal dies to create the little flower for the purple popsicle, layering the two sizes available on the set and adding a little gem to the middle. The orange popsicle has a bowtie made of Lemon Tart baker's twine (available from My Craft Spot) too.

Each face was stamped with a Peachy Keen stamp and chalk was used for the rosy cheeks.  I also added some faux stitching around the card and around each popsicle (including the imposter STOP sign!) with a white gelly roll pen.  Freckles were added too!

I finished things off with a little sentiment label created by combining "You're" and "cool!" - two stamps from My Craft Spot's Build a Valentine stamp set.  I also added a little brad from my stash and layered a little gem in the middle for a bit of extra sparkle.

*I am also going to link up this card for this week's Peach Keen Challenge: Anything Goes.

My Craft Spot Spring Stamp Release Party - Day 5

Friday, April 26, 2013
Welcome to Day 5 of the My Craft Spot Spring Stamp Release Party! I hope you've been having as much fun as the design team this week!  Tomorrow, we'll release pictures of ALL the new stamp sets and metal dies - plus, everything will be available for purchase.  For now, we are showcasing projects created with the NEW Feel Better Soon stamp set.

I created a card with a sick little pup in bed from Paper Pups.  I used a variety of papers from my scrap caddy and rounded the corners with a Creative Memories corner rounder.  The little eyes on my pup were stamped with a Peachy Keen stamp and I used Glossy Accents on the nose and thermometer (part of which I had coloured with a red marker).  I popped the image on the card and used some My Craft Spot Blueberry baker's twine to use as a border between the two background papers.

Along the bottom of my card, I stamped a sentiment with the NEW Feel Better Soon stamp set, adding some tiny star buttons from Calico Cottage Crafts.

Head over to My Craft Spot to see the fun and fabulous creations made by Kimberly and the rest of the design team!  Leave a comment there today for your chance to win your choice of 5 colours of baker's twine!  And be sure to come back for tomorrow's blog hop - where there will be prizes at EACH stop along the way!  You'll also have the opportunity to purchase the NEW stamp sets and metal dies!

Easter's on its Way

Monday, March 25, 2013
The past two weeks have flown by.  Today's card is the first thing I've created in almost three weeks!!  We've been ridiculously busy with some planned events and some unexpected ones so there has not really been time for crafting and blogging.  (I have been trying to get to many blogs and apologize to those of you who have not seen me for a bit.)  For the most part, life has been incredibly fun for us - with trips to Toronto to cheer on the Raptors, to watch a live musical performance (front row, centre!!), and to visit my sister.  My youngest also took part in a Special Hockey International tournament which was an amazing experience for him.  Life is good!

This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is "Strings and Things".  We are challenging you to use string or twine on your creations.

I made this Easter card yesterday afternoon.  It did feel good to be back in my craft room!  I used Doodlecharms for the bunny and eggs and created the grass using a pair of fringe scissors from Martha Stewart.  For the sky background, I used a Peachy Keen stamp.  The bunny's ears and body were cut using George and Basic Shapes.  I inked everything!

I used a sentiment from My Craft Spot's "Happy Easter" stamp set across the bottom of my card - and finished everything off with some lovely Spring Green baker's twine, also from My Craft Spot.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has created - and to link up your own "Strings and Things" creation.

Wishing You Luck

Monday, March 4, 2013
This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is sure to get your mouth watering.... It's all about "Tasty Treats"!

I recently made some little treat bags that I will give to my boys on St. Patrick's Day.  I used a bag topper for my treat bags and embossed the white layer with a clouds folder.  The little turtle is from Create a Critter 2 and I embossed the little shell with a mesh texture folder.  The face is from Peachy Keen stamps.  (I'm not sure the "bushy tailed" face goes with my turtle, but it was the right size and fit my little cut so I went with it!)

I gave my turtles some little Pea Pod twine bows from My Craft Spot's baker's twine collection.  The "sun" is actually from My Craft Spot's Lacy Banner's metal dies.  I then stamped a wee sentiment from My Craft Spot's Tiny Tags sentiment stamp set.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to check out the fantastic projects created by the rest of the design team - and then link up your own Tasty Treats creation!

Some of my Best Friends are Flakes!

Tuesday, December 18, 2012
Hello friends!  I can hardly believe that there is only one week until Christmas!!  I still have some more baking to do but won't do that until next Sunday and Monday as there are some things that I prefer to have fresh for Christmas - and my freezer space is limited.  I tend to go overboard with my Christmas baking but nobody seems to complain!!

It's my turn to post a project at My Craft Spot today and I'm showcasing a card that I created for one of my best friends.  She LOVES snow.  A few months ago, I found some snowman tea towels with "Some of my best friends are flakes" written across them.  I picked them up for her - and then when Kimberly came out with the same fun sentiment on her new "Think Snow" stamp set, I knew that I'd be using it to make a coordinating card!!

I used Winter Frolic for the snowman and Elegant Edges for the frame.  I used a Peachy Keen stamp for the eyes.  The snowman's scarf is tied with some wonderful Caribbean crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot.  I added a coordinating border made with a Martha Stewart punch.  I also did some embossing using the Cuttlebug Snowdots folder.

As I noted above, the fun sentiment is from My Craft Spot's "Think Snow" stamp set.  It's just perfect to use to spread a smile!  The little snowflakes are from the same set too!  The bottom corners of my card were rounded using a Creative Memories punch.

Have a fabulous day! Merry Christmas!

Penguin Card

Monday, December 17, 2012
It's time for another challenge at My Craft Spot - our last of 2012!  This one is perfect for those of you who still need to create another Christmas card or two (although please remember that only one entry is permitted per crafter per challenge).  We're making Christmas shape cards.  Here's mine!

This little penguin is from Create a Critter 2.  I used my Gypsy to weld two shadows together (flipping one) to create the card base.  I then simply added the other layers over top of that.  I used a Peachy Keen stamp for the eyes and used some boa for the trim and pompom on the hat.  (I'm quickly getting addicted to boa feathers!!)  I embossed the metallic hat with Cuttlebug's Snowdots folder.

The little tag was cut using Tiny Tags metal dies from My Craft Spot.  The Jolly! is part of a sentiment from My Craft Spot's 'Tis the Season stamp set.

I finished everything off with some cranberry crinkle ribbon - from My Craft Spot - as well as a feather and a little bell.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the lovely creations made by my design team sisters - and then link up your own Christmas shape card!
