Birthday Card for My Niece
Monday, January 28, 2013It's time for another challenge at My Craft Spot. This week is all about wishing big - for birthdays! My niece will be celebrating her birthday next month so I decided to take this opportunity to make a special card for her.
I used Paper Dolls Teen Scene for the girl at the side of my card. There was a "7" on her shirt, but that did not seem appropriate. As Sophie is a HUGE fan of One Direction, I used my Gypsy to change the 7 to 1D using Cuttin' Up. I used Opposites Attract for the number 15.
The lacy pennant was cut using a die from My Craft Spot's Lacy Banners Metal Dies. I then wove some Cotton Candy baker's twine (also from My Craft Spot) through the pennant, leaving the ends long enough to thread through a button and tie in a bow. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot's "Birthday Wishes" set. (The actual stamp is on one line, but I stamped twice, inking one word each time, in order to have my sentiment fit the pennant.)
The papers I used on this card are from the very first paper stack I ever purchased! The cover is long gone so I have no clue who the manufacturer is anymore...
Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has made. The projects this week are FABULOUS!! And don't forget to link up your own birthday creation too!

Hi Kate! I hope all is well up North!!
This card is just adorable, I love how you personalized it with the age and then the 1D on the shirt, very clever!
Also would have never have thought to stamp the Happy Birthday twice to get it to fit!! Great paper choice as well!

Fabulous teen card...love it!! Lee-Ann :)
What a great card! I find it difficult to make things for this age group. Don't want to be too "cutesy" or too "grown up". This is just perfect - love it!
This is so fun. Love her polka dotted shirt!!!
This is such a great card for a teenager. I don't have that cart or I'd be copying it for my granddaughters who turn 15 in May.
This is a great birthday card!

My sweet friend, I've been thinking of you more than ever... we really need to chat more. When your card arrived in my Inbox yesterday, my heart instantly sparkled. :o) It is so colorful, cheery, and so perfectly tailored to the sweet recipient. You are a blessing to all who know you. :o) I have more gushing to do about you and your work, but I need to keep this one short as I'm not feeling the best and am so desperately trying to finish my work for I Feel the Love.. sometimes I demand too much out of myself, I'm afraid. I miss you more than I can say and will be back soon.
Hugs and blessings!
Fun card! My DD will be 15 soon, too, so I'll keep your in mind! :)
