So Thankful for You

Wednesday, September 28, 2016
It's all about bears over at Little Red Wagon this week! Jan is our hostess this week and she's chosen the theme "Bear with me" - use bears on your project.

I went through my stamps and realized that I only have ONE bear stamp! It's a freebie that came with a cardmaking magazine quite a while back so I'm glad I was "forced" to finally put it to use. He is a cutie! I used my Zigs to colour him in. The sentiment is a retired stamp from My Craft Spot's Big Sentiments set.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the bear projects! We'd love to see what you create too so I hope you'll find some crafting time to "bear with us".

Smile and Have a Fun Day

Wednesday, September 21, 2016
Heather is this week's Little Red Wagon hostess and she's chosen the theme "School Rules" - create a project with something to do with back to school.

For my card, I used a variety of stamps from Your Next Stamp's School Notes set to create a card with lots of back-to-school items! My youngest started high school this year and my oldest two are in post-secondary, and back-to-school shopping includes more pillows, bedding, kitchen items and groceries than it usually does! However, I didn't feel that a pot or spatula fit the theme so stuck with traditional school items.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created. We'd love for you to link up your own "School Rules" project too!

Hockey Card

Wednesday, September 14, 2016
Happy Wednesday! We're halfway through the week and almost halfway through the month. Time flies!! Wednesday means a new challenge at Little Red Wagon where Sandy is this week's hostess. Her theme is "Be a good sport" and we're challenging you to have a sport theme on your project.

My youngest son plays on our special needs hockey team and the league starts up again next weekend. It's still been like summer here so it's hard to believe we'll soon be bundling up to go to the cold ice rink! I volunteer on the Board of Directors so can't wait to see all our planning come to fruition for the players. I used a Your Next Stamp set for my adorable little Canadian hockey player and sentiment and added them to some fun wintery patterned paper. I decided to include part of the deer as he was too cute to cut out entirely!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the design team creations - and to link up your own sports-themed project!

I Like How You Roll

Thursday, September 8, 2016
When My Favorite Things had their new release earlier this week, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Happy Hedgehogs set - and they're here already!! Despite being exhausted from my new job (which I LOVE), I also knew that some crafting time was deserved and so took time this evening to make this card.

I stamped the hedgehog a few times to make it look like he's rolling across the card. I used the newly released Chevron Grid stencil too, but rotated it in the direction of the roll. I followed the latest MFT sketch challenge so am linking up there as well.

Purr-fect Friend

Wednesday, September 7, 2016
Click HERE for my Your Next Stamp Design Team Dare post.

It's time for a new Little Red Wagon challenge and I'm delighted to be the hostess this week. We have two cats and a dog, all of which are rescues (one of the cats we got as a kitten from a friend who rescued a pregnant cat and the others were older rescues). It's amazing how much love is given and received from our furry friends and I thought it would be wonderful to celebrate pets of all kinds by having a Fur-ever Friend challenge - create a project with a house pet on it.

For my project, I created a card with a cat, fish and mouse! I had fun colouring the sweet little animals.

Boo!

It's time for a Design Team Dare over at Your Next Stamp. This month, the design team (and guests - which includes me!) were dared to use new release products with fall colours. This was a challenge as my new-release products are all Halloween related, but I certainly couldn't pass on a good dare so I put on my creative cap and came up with the card below!!

My zombie is from the NEW SpookTacular Halloween set, as is the fun "Boo!" speech bubble. I love that there are matching dies to cut out the images. I created a fall scene using trees from the Cute Home set. My zombie needed a home, so I did some masking and extra stamping to turn the house from the Cute Home set into something more appropriate for a zombie - a haunted, spider-infested house!

I used a few different distress inks for my background, and added some black spatter to create a gravel road at the bottom.

Head over to
Your Next Stamp to check out the rest of the design team projects. Be sure to leave a comment while you're there as one lucky commenter will win a stamp set of their choice!

Your Next Stamp September Release and Blog Hop

Saturday, September 3, 2016
It's time for the Your Next Stamp September Release and Blog Hop!! All of the AMAZING new products are available for purchase at the YNS Store now too! Yay!

I'm so lucky to have received some of the new release products and am in LOVE with the Spook-tacular Halloween stamp set (and matching dies!). There are a few fun images, and I especially like the mummy - so of course I inked him up right away to create a card. The stamp set includes a variety of great sentiments too!

I started my card by using some wonky stitiched dies, with a wonky circle added to the rectangular mat. I then used my distress inks and brushes to paint the background. Once that was dry, I used the fun crooked fence from the NEW Halloween Witch die set, cutting it out twice and adhering the pieces side-by-side. I stamped, coloured and cut the fabulous new mummy image (from the Spook-tacular Halloween stamp and die set) and popped him on my card.

I heat embossed the sentiment on a speech bubble and popped that on the card too.

For my second card, I put my masking paper to work! I used a variety of distress inks to create a full moon background. I then used the wonderful NEW Batty Background Splatter stamp to heat emboss a cloud of bats. The sentiment is from the
NEW Spook-tacular Halloween set and it is heat embossed too.

Here are photos of the NEW release items that I used for my cards above:

Now it's time for you to hop! The more blogs you visit, the greater your chances are at winning a $25 gift certificate to the YNS store! (You don't have to comment on all to qualify, but it will increase your odds of winning if you do.) I'd love for you to leave a comment here too!

Your Next Stamp September Release Preview Day

I'm delighted to be a new release guest designer at Your Next Stamp again this month! I'm participating in today's sneak peek/preview as well as tomorrow's blog hop too. I've had a great time playing with the fabulous new goodies - all of which will be available for purchase tomorrow!

For today's card, I used the NEW Spook-tacular Halloween stamps and co-ordinating dies. This set is so much fun! I stamped and coloured the witch (with her sweet little cat), cut out the image using a co-ordinating die and then put it aside in order to create my background. I used a few different distress inks and blended them on watercolour paper. I then used a circle die to cut a hole out. I cut another circle and used yellow inks to colour it. I then "puzzle pieced" the two pieces together.

The sentiment is heat embossed with a few sequins added for interest. When that was done, I popped the witch image on the moon. It's hard to tell in my photos, but the witch's hat and the moon have some Wink of Stella added for a bit of sparkly fun!

Don't forget to head over to Your Next Stamp to see more of the sneak peeks - and come back tomorrow to take part in the blog hop! One lucky participant will win a $25 gift certificate to the YNS store!!
