December Calendar Card

Wednesday, September 25, 2024
Brenda is our fabulous hostess at Little Red Wagon and she's looking for numbers.

I used a NBUS embossing folder that I received in a grab box years ago. However, I knew it would be just perfect for this challenge! I layered some die cut branches (combining dies from Your Next Stamp and a generic brand) as well as a pine cone and berries (both from the same generic brand as some of the branches). I topped off the bunch with some crinkle ribbon. It would have been a fairly quick card to put together if it weren't for trying to remove the branch cuts from the cardstock after running through my die cutter. Turns out it wasn't as simple as I'd planned!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see how the rest of the Girlfriends have used numbers on their projects. We'd love to have you join us too!

Happy Birthday - Stitched Flowers

Wednesday, September 18, 2024
Janice is hosting at Little Red Wagon this week and she's asking "Sew What?". She'd like to see stitching of any kind on our projects - faux stitching, hand stitching, machine stitching, etc.

I enjoyed the time I spent stitching with embroidery thread on my little My Favorite Things' die cut flowers. It was nice to just sit, listen to music and stitch. I also did some faux stitching with the Mama Elephant Columbus Circle die which took far less time!! I heat embossed the tiny little sentiment which was from Simon Says Stamp's "Wild Flowers" set. The vellum leaves were cut with more My Favorite Things dies.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see all the stitching there! Once you've been inspired, we'd love for you to get out a needle and thread or pen or die cuts to join our "Sew What?" challenge.

Hello - I miss moo

Wednesday, September 11, 2024
Chrissy is hosting this week's Little Red Wagon and she wants us to shake things up! In other words, add a shaker to your project!

I used dies and stamps from My Favorite Things to create my shaker card. I seem to be all fingers whenever I make shakers but, things turned out in the end. I think it's cute!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see all the shakers created by the rest of the Design Team. We'd love for you to "shake things up" as well!

Amputation sympathy card

Wednesday, September 4, 2024
Imke's hosting our newest Little Red Wagon challenge and she's chosen the theme "sympathy". I did something a little bit different.

A few weeks ago, my son had a pretty nasty accident at work. His little finger was mostly amputated although stitched back together. Unfortunately, the finger is useless given that the circular saw he was using totally ate up the joint cartilage and also cut tendons and a nerves. Jack will have the finger amputated (with a bit of a stump!) on Thursday. Because our family has a bit of an odd sense of humour, Jack asked for a farewell party for his finger which we'll have tonight (Wednesday). He's asked for poutine and cheesecake. Yum!

I created the image in Canva using a pre-created hand with the little finger sticking out. If I had to make the card again, I think I would cut the image and sentiment separately and back them each with the red. That said, I REALLY hope I never have to make any such card again!!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the sympathy projects created by the rest of the Girlfriends - and then link up one of your own!
