You are So Special

Happy Wednesday! It's time for a new challenge at Little Red Wagon and I'm thrilled to be the hostess this week! I decided on "Fit It In!" as our theme and I'm challenging you all to create something with an inlaid die cut.

For my card, I used a pair of fishtail banner dies. I used both the larger and smaller dies to cut out my black cardstock by nesting the smaller one in the larger die in order to create a frame. I then used the smaller die to cut some watercolour paper. After stamping the flowers and branches on my watercolour cardstock, I fit the smaller fishtail banner into the larger black frame so they lie flat together on the card base. I finished things off with some little purple gems and a sentiment.

It's a bit easier to see here that one die cut is nested inside the other.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon and link up your own "Fit It In!" project. I'd love to see what you make! Plus, check out the inspiration from the rest of the Girlfriends!

  1. Very pretty. What type of watercolor paper do you like to use?

  2. Thanks Georgiana! For this card, I used Canson Watercolor paper. I purchased a large pack at Michaels (with a coupon!) and just cut to size whatever I need for particular projects. The colour is not white though. I also use A Graphic (?) which is part of a watercolor journal book that I found at our local Homesense store and I have Tim Holtz watercolour cardstock too, but find it quite pricey so don't use it very often. However, it's a nice white colour!

  7. When you said "fit it in" I first thought you were fitting in all those images onto a background, Kate. But inlaid dies are wonderful and those large fishtails make a great frame for you flowers.
